So… new iPod… pretty cool, pretty cool. Except, despite what the fanboys will tell you, it ain’t perfect. Nope.
Far from it. What do I mean?
Yeah, what do I mean? John? Anyone?
• There’s no FM radio support (without third-party accessories). I’m pretty sure I can buy a $200 DAP in Chinatown that has FM radio support. Is it a battery issue? (But then how did they get Wi-Fi in there…?) Or does Apple simply not want me to be able to listen to my morning radio program of choice on my iPod? LAme, Apple.
• Lousy codec support. OK, so the 16GB found in the top-of-the-line Touch isn’t a whole lot of space (more on that later), but it’s still enough to hold a couple of FLAC albums. And no, no one uses Apple Lossless to encode their music. Still no OGG Vorbis, no WMA (even san DRM), etc. The iPod is about to turn six years old. You’d think Apple would at least throw the OSS community OGG support. It surely can’t be a processor speed issue anymore.
• No way to record audio. Again, probably not a feature too many folks would use, but would it really kill Apple to throw us a bone?
• 16GB is a little on the small size. I have acquired a whole lot more music than will fit on a puny 16GB flash drive. You’re basically telling power users that they’ll have to buy both an iPod Classic and iPod Touch if they want to be totally satisfied. Yawn.
• It doesn’t come out until… er, we don’t know, actually. A “few weeks” is all we know. Quoth Matt Hickey, “I don’t have one yet.” That’s a problem, to be sure.
Minor criticims, admittedly. But please don’t think that the Touch is the end all, be all as far as PMPs go.
But it’s still pretty impressive, all things considered.

Want a free Ipod itouch? Just do what i did, and have it shiped to your door. I’m on it right now using the wi-fi connection. its ammmmazing lol.

Man, You are way too picky. First of all I personally find 16gb to be enough, mainly because have you ever tried to get to your fav album on an 80gb model? It takes ages and is really annoying. I think davs is right about the piracy thing. If you think about it logically, they will never support it. It is fairly useless when you get it first, And limited (no games being the main thing) but with 3rd party apps like jailbreak I now have nes games, all the classics mario, donkey kong, A crayon physics game and solitaire. Not to mention the iphone apps like mail, maps, weather etc. All in all I am very happy with this device. Lets just see how long it lasts.
PS about the radio, Here in Ireland there are no good radio stations (just as all generalizations are false) most of them just play shitty pop songs so it doesnt bother me. One question tho, Would the apple ipod radio remote not work with it as it does for all other ipods (which also dont come with a radio so I dont see the big issue, you should be expecting that if you’ve owned an ipod before)
the iPod Touch is amazingg. youtube videos show up better on that then they do on youtube itself.. which i guess makes sense considering it’s smaller.. But Still!
ok, i have been reading what people have to say. a few say they have gotten free ipods from some website how could i know for sure they aren’t phishers? How do i know it is safe?
Clearly the ipod touch is just another crappy iteration of apples lame ambitions to push its market share from 5 to 6%…’wow’.
Besides, there’s a superior player on the market – the samsung P2. Better than the ipod in every conceivable way.
FOCKING SKANK!!!!
