Guess where I was this morning at 6am? It wasn’t the Apple Store on 5th Avenue, I can tell you that much. I was on a subway, looking at my 5G 30GB iPod and thinking about how great it was. “I don’t need no stinkin’ Touch!” I though to myself. I came home, got on the internets, and started browsing around. I was really, really trying to avoid Apple news. But then it happened.
The picture. The icon. The Bluetooth.
Seen the 3D renderings/photos of the iPod Touch? Look closely in the corner near the battery icon, then look at your Desktop in OS X and tell me if you notice something similar. I’ll wait.
Eh? Eh? Ehhhhh? Looks like the iPod Touch may have Bluetooth! Makes sense, since you could use a pair of A2DP-compatible stereo Bluetooth headphones to rock out with. We’ll see in a “few weeks”.
Bluetooth im iPod touch? [Fscklog]

I was just saying to a friend that the touch would make way more sense if it had Bluetooth (at least to those of us outside the US that can’t get an iPhone for love nor money). Because as I see it, the touch is a competitor to the N800, which can Bluetooth to your mobile phone to get the Interwebs on the go. So, forget the headphones - I HOPE it has Bluetooth to pair it up with my phone. (or even better they finally let us get some iPhone love in the UK!)
Bluetooth internet connectivity would be terrific. Could we get internet through our phones that way?
I think they just ’shopped an iPhone screen over the touch mockup. Also, why doesn’t the reflection match what’s on the screen?
But yeah, I hope it has Bluetooth. If so, I hope Apple releases a new Airport Express that works as a Bluetooth audio gateway.
good observation, man. wonder why they didn’t announce a feature like that though.
Bluetooth would be great as then you could get a small, bluetooth enabled phone on a reasonably priced voice and data plan with someone other than AT&T (T-Mobile?) and get a good phone and all the iPhone goodies.
But I’ve gotta believe that this would create a royal pain in the AT&T/Apple relationship and Apple probably gets some revenue share on the AT&T plan that would threatened.
My bet is that an open iPod touch is a threat to the economics of the closed network model of the iPhone.
Would bluetooth allow for wireless connections to car audio systems? This would make the whole ipod connection nightmare a whole lot less complex.
bluetooth is essentially a waste of time. If you guys want to see a killer review site check out http://www.ipodtouchreview.com it is going to be loaded with tons of content. Thanks!
but yeah, bluetooth is lame. waste of time, waste of battery life.
The icon that you saw by the battery icon is for WIRELESS, not bluetooth.
World traveler here, I use the Dell Axim with Windows mobile for Yahoo Voice and Skype, works very well, I have local phone numbers on multiple continents; however, I would unload the Axim on eBay in a heartbeat if I could get Skype and Yahoo voice on the iPod touch. You can forget cell phone plans, what a giant rip off! I don’t want to have to answer my phone unless I am having coffee anyway, thats what voice mail is for. Please get to work on it folks!
Silly Wakko. The wireless icon is on the left.
IF! the iPod Touch doesn’t have bluetooth couldn’t somebady adapt the WiFi to act like blue tooth ??
I mean like Install some blue tooth software from a iPhone and mod it to use WiFi instead , it wouldn’t be as good as blue but might be faster. Mabye some third party company could make a bluetooth head set in a WiFi one. Maybe ?
That’s cool.
