Record Labels Set To Debut “Ringles”

It appears that the record industry is finally realizing the CD won’t last another 10 years. In a desperate move to drive sales up and profit from new Top 40 singles, major labels will release “ringles” upon the world. These “ringles” are a combination of a CD single and a ringtone packaged together for an inexpensive price. Sources say that a ringle will cost $5.98 or $6.98, depending on the retailer.

So what do you get in a ringle? Three songs per CD are expected. Consumers will find a popular “hit song”, along with a remix and possibly an older song by the artist. You’ll also receive one ringtone per CD that you can download onto your cellphone whenever you want. Expect to see these ringles in stores like Wal-Mart and Target later this year, but don’t expect a massive selection. Sony BMG will be releasing 50 debut titles and Universal Music Group will have approximately 10 to 20 titles ready. Ayo Technology yo.
