Do you remember where you were when the issue of Nintendo Power featuring the new TMNT game and the Ninja Gaiden 2 review showed up at your house?
It was late spring 1989 when this gem appeared in my mailbox. I remember reading it over and over and over again and I believe I actually held on to it for years.
It’s been scanned cover to cover; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ninja Gaiden 2, Mega Man II with pull-out poster, Howard & Nester, the 1998 Nintendo Power Awards, and the top 30 games that month (Zelda II - The Adventure of Link was #1, Bionic Commando came in at #8). Good stuff.

I preferred the one right before that with Link on the cover.
Bionic Commando was better an 8 spot as well.

This brings back a lot of memories. I had that Mega Man II poster in my room for years.
I think those golden Nester awards subconsciously affected the little gold/silver/bronze Squid icons that are used for reviews on CG.
Also, I remember wanting to enter that Invent the Ultimate Video Game Contest, but I couldn’t really get my shit together when I was 9. I would just draw new Mario levels and characters all the time. I was quite impressed with Lockarm though and I wanted to see it actually get made.
