Personally, I stopped upgrading my PSP’s firmware when Dark Alex left the scene a few months ago. Firmware 3.41 or thereabouts. The little guy does all I need it to do. Sony today, however, dropped version 3.70. The upgrade adds only a few new features (if you can call them features), including

• Custom themes (You could do this with hacked firmware for a while now)

• Sequential playback of movies

By far, the biggest addition is…

• The ability to play music and view photos at the same time. That it took until version 3.70 to be able to do such a processor intensive task is amazing. Like, I’m sitting here stunned. And on a crazy coffee buzz, but stunned nonetheless.

You know where to find the update, I trust.

  • No one will read this post, as no one gives a flying fuck about psp anymore – particularly, as you said, after Dark Alex decided to wander away from it.

    However…
Coffee Buzzes rock my world – particularly in the pants.
    Except instant coffee…
Which is distinctly lacking in its pants region rocking qualities.

Probably because it causes erectile problems.

  • I like tostitos and I’m not dead yet. I also love my PSP and I can’t wait to get the new slim one.

  • I will wait until the custom firmware is updated with these features.

  • this upgrade was probably in response to M33’s release of version 3.6 which can be used for the PSP slim. (long live homebrew) as much as i loved Dark Alex’s work…with his retirement it seems there have been quite a few people stepping up to the plate when it comes to creating new custom firmwares and other programs
