It looks like our contest may be moot, friends. It looks like a number of the usual suspects — except GeoHot and some shady Russians — have cracked the iPhone wide open. The software is mirrored here and it’s just a zipfile that contains a command line app that looks to be compiled for the iPhone. I tried to run it from the command line in OS X and it wouldn’t take. Let’s see how this shakes out in the next few hours. Stay tuned.

IN SSH TYPE
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
Upload iunlock the ice file and the nor to /usr/bin
then run iunlock ICE03.14.08_G.fls nor
./iunlock ICE03.14.08_G.fls nor
if it doesnt work make sure you chmod 555 iunlock
Load up minicom (in ssh yet again type minicom)
Type these commands exactly
AT S7=45 S0=0 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0
AT+CLCK=”PN”,0,”00000000″
AT+CLCK=”PN”,2( if you cant write in the minicom, start Commcenter again and stop it again)
THEN
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
Not as easy as I had hoped, but a GUI will appear soon enough. This isn’t rocket science. It is telecomm science, though.

if “minicom” command fails then try this step:
• Type in: minicom -s and hit enter
• Navigate with the arrow keys down to Change serial and press enter
• Press A
• Press delete until all you are left with is /dev/
• Type in tty.baseband (it should now look like /dev/tty.baseband)
• Press Enter
• Press ESC
• Navigate down to exit and hit Enter

i am doing everything right until the second last comand:

I keep getting “ERROR” under it for some reason. I tried to exit mincom, run bbupdater -v and go back to minicom and enter in the same code but it keeps giving me error…any suggestions??
almost forgot…even when I do get the error for the second last command, when I type in the very last command:
AT+CLCK=”PN”,2
I get the “OK” and it gives the “+CLCK: 0″ at the end..does this mean its unlocked?? please help!!
try the gui unlocker, dan. that will be easiest
i was previously trying to use the gui unlocker..it was horrible. my phone froze for 30min and after trying to restart my phone it had no sound so i had to restore my phone and lost everything. annyways, john, can you confirm that if my unlock was successful that youtube should not work?? like i said in the previous post, the last step didn’t give me the “+CLCK: 1″ error it gave me the “+CLCK: 0″ which i think means its unlocked?? and also will bluetooth work?? thanks for your time, John, greatly appreciated.
i tried the gui unlocker and it froze my phone, plus disabled the sound. i had to restore my phone because of that. but i want to just confirm that if my unlock was successful via the above method, that youtube will not work? like i get the errer “cannot connect to youtube”. does this mean that the phone is unlocked?? also because when i entered in the last step that it gave me the “+CLCK: 0″ response although the step before that gave me an error?? please help!

did you activate the phone after you inserted the card and ran the program? YouTube won’t work if you’re on another network.
youtube was not working but i used pacay to unlock it so now its working. the whole time i was using the att sim card because i do not have another sim at the moment to test out. im pretty sure i did all of the steps correctly and the phone should be unlocked. the visual voicemail button also is disabled so that is another sign that it might be unlocked. i am going to check if its unlocked with another sim tomorrow.

I got the same “error” after AT+CLCK=”PN”,0,”00000000″ but a “+CLCK: 0″ final response after the last command in minicom. Did this unlock your phone? Did you do something else to get your Fido network working? Thanks.

Yes this did unlock my phone. Once i finished with the minicom and typed in the last command (the one after the AT one’s), I switched the sim cards and restarted my phone. Then, voila. First, it was connected to Rogers Wireless, then after maybe a few hours or so it changed to the Fido network. Your youtube will not work if you performed it successfully. To unlock you tube, just google “pacay” and follow the easy tutorials. Currently, us Fido users are facing an issue with voicemail sms (voicemail notification). We dont seem to recieve any notification (red dot) appearing when getting new voicemail, but hopefully people are looking into that issue now. Other than that, everything else works perfectly fine! ok so once you have extracted all the pacay files, just click on the “(CLICK HERE) activate” icon. Of course, make sure that your iphone is plugged in before clicking the icon. Once you have done so, it will run through a bunch of stuff and then it will stop and ask you to restart your iphone. Once you have done so, it will then tell you to hit space bar or any key and it will finish the process. Then your done!! Simple as that! Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Dan, do you know of a way to unlock AND activate the new firm ware (V1.1.1) on fido? I just bought iphone 3 days ago and has this new firm ware on it.
