Watch this video. It’s very good. Mr. Mossberg knows he’s going into weird territory for his audience and speaks carefully and concisely on the various problems and plusses he found on a Ubuntu-powered Dell laptop. This is the link to send to your CEO when he’s like “I think we should give everybody this Loonuks stuff.” Linux is great, but it’s still not a desktop OS.

  • You should have titled this post… Unky Walt Does Ubuntu, Hilarity Ensues.

    The very idea of Walt using Linux is a comical depiction by itself.

  • If Mp3s and commercial DVDs don’t play by default, it’s because those codecs aren’t free. But I guess that there are ways to licence these for Linux. It’s weird Dell isn’t including such things as Mp3 and DVD since Dell doesn’t sell the Ubuntu versions cheaper then the Windows Vista versions, then Dell should be having a lot of margins to pay the necessary licences to include those codecs by default.
