Growing up in the NW meant Alaska Air handled any sort of air travel along the west coast. Why? Because it was inexpensive and service was above average. I’m happy to hear that by the time I move on back to the west coast, around 2009 or so, I’ll have satellite-based in-flight Wi-Fi. Alaska has paired up with Row 44 to bring you Wi-Fi goodness if tests coming up in the spring go well. Alaskan routes venture outside the continental US and satellite-based services are the only way to go. I typically don’t fly first class or elite aka business where the rich will be privy to free Wi-Fi, so I’ll have to fork over a few bucks for the service, but that’s ok with me.

That is awesome..Flights are going to be great on that airline. I was on Air France 2 weeks ago and they had a survey going around, they were asking whether they should provide their passengers with an instant messaging service as well as a browser…Those 20 hour flights are going to be tolerable.
