I have used Lotus products and particularly their word processing programs (AmiPro and most recently WordPro) for many years... (Does anyone remember that Lotus 1-2-3 was not only the original but the standard in spread sheet software and that Microsoft basically copied most of the look, feel and aspects of that program and then demolished the company by including their software when you purchased a computer?). Anyway, I digress. Although the copy of WordPro I have was last updated around 1998, it still kicks the ass of Word. It out performs Word in simplicity (intuitiveness/ease of use) and power. I just used it this past week because it is so easy to use the mail merge function that it seemed silly to try and learn Word's convoluted alternative. It is unfortunate that in Word has become the standard in the face of much better programs like WordPro and WordPerfect which were both much better programs in my humble opinion (having used all three extensively). This is great news but if Lotus products could be considered "less advanced" they would have had to strip out some of the features and functionality which I am familiar with.
