I thought UMPCs were dead, but Intel is telling me different. Anand Chandrasekher, SVP and GM of Intel’s UM group, is set to announce that the chipmaker will be adding options for WiMax and 3G support to Menlow UMPC devices running Windows or Linux. The Menlow chip package includes the upcoming Silverthorne processor and single-chip Poulsbo chipset. We should be seeing it pop up on the market in early 2008. Seriously, who has a UMPC? I’d really like to know.

I do! I have a Samsung Q1, and it is quite useful, for what I needed it for. Not perfect, but useful. I use it like a big PDA, with a much more usable browser.

I use a Nokia N800, which is very similar to an MID. It is good for browsing in coffee shops, in the car, or anywhere.

Ok, so for the most part you guys enjoying having and using them? I guess with all the smart phones I’m exposed to, I didn’t think it was necessary to have such a thing, but I guess you learn something new everyday.
