About a week ago, we got to sit down with T-Mobile and play with the Sidekick Slide, Sidekick LX and a few other upcoming devices. Unfortunately, due to an embargo, we couldn’t utter a peep – until today. The Sidekick Slide will be available October 24th, in case you somehow didn’t know, and will cost $199 with a two-year contract. It’s the first time Motorola has tried its hand at the Sidekick and I must say, it’s the best one yet.
The much-brighter LCD is similar to that of the Sidekick LX’s, except smaller. The back has a very polished feel to it and the 1.3-megapixel camera is a tiny bit better than the Sidekick 3’s, but not by much. The new Sidekick interface is loaded, but it’s just the standard fare you’d normally find. IM, Web browsing, messaging, etc. T-Mobile also got the Sidekick Slide to send picture messages, as opposed to sending e-mail with an attachment.
After owning a Sidekick 2 for awhile and eventually a Sidekick 3, I have to say that my vote most certainly goes to the Sidekick Slide. Though the LX has a Sharp Aquos screen, media playback and a longer battery, the Slide is more compact and is beyond thin. It looks professional and the keypad is decent, but not fantastic. I highly suggest picking the Slide over the LX, as you’ll probably have an iPod handy for listening to music. Sorry for no hands on pics, but T-Mobile wouldn’t let us. Autumn people. It’s the season of Sidekick madness.

Why buy spend mad money for a nice looking phone when tmobile’s service sucks. I have the I’D it does me justice I only need it for internet. Well I just got the sidekick lx and I fell in love with it. I use to have the 2 and 3 but the lx its the best. Well the slide seems ok cause my girlfriend ordered it but I got to hand it to the lx.

yeah I want to get the slide but I wish it could take and play videos. I might end up Getting an iPhone like my brother. Same price or less than the lx but has iTunes, youtube, and a much bigger screen. The sidekick slide was pulled off the shevles because it was recalled it was a great phone for the price but if it would only work. However tmobile is giving all slide customers the LX at no additional charge. I recieved the new LX to replace my slide and there’s no major difference I think if your going to layout that kind of money for a phone you should just go with the blackberry curve that will be my next purchase. Phones in the same price range as the LX can do so much more I was disappointed with the LX.

i have the SK3 right now, but only because i`m getting the `SLiDE this weekend & the only reason they`re releasing it so late is because of the major recall they had to do on the `SLiDE `cause it kept on messing up on people. & honestly, my cousin & my friends have the LX .. it`s not that big of a deal & when it comes to the manual tracker [not the ball] .. it jumps too much. so i`d much rather get the `SLiDE. & also because everyone has an LX already ; & i hate having what other people already have.
