If you’re the proud owner of a PS3 or any other Blu-ray player and you’ve been pining over the fact that you won’t be able to watch Transformers or any other HD DVD flick then you’ll be happy to know that someone has provided you with a video guide on how to convert HD DVD to Blu-ray without losing picture quality or having to re-code. The video is crappy quality, so you’ll have to watch it a few times.
Video: HD-DVD exclusives converted to Blu-ray, playable on PS3 [QJ]

Haha, the tutorial video about keeping the HD quality is bad quality. That’s silly
Ok i’ve buyed an LG blu ray wruter hd dvd reader. but i can’t read the video. anyone can hel me sending a text file “how to”? i want to see not only transformer on my blu ray player.

Don’t Support HD-DVD, by buying transformers and converting it for your PS3, Just suck it up and buy it on DVD, until a future release on Blu-Ray…Which their will be!
I very much agree with this comment! Good man.

!haha haha Transformers is not on Blu-Ray just go buy a cheap hd-dvd player u sony fanboy !
hi
i always thaught that hd dvd is the disc and blu ray is the player…im confused :i
Zubeee, there are two HD formats on the market right now, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. The PS3 is currently the most common form of player for watching Blu-Ray movies, and stand-alone players for the HD-DVD format.
To all of you who say Blu-Ray is superior to HD-DVD, shutup. The video quality is exactly the same. You can’t get better than 1080p. The only difference if Transformers had been released in BD is the audio quality, which only provides a marginal improvement. The 20 extra gigs of space on the BD will only allow room for more special features, and honestly, who cares about that?
Read the wise guy below your comment thank you very much.
I support only Bluray.
N00b, There is a difference in quality, Blu-Ray has a faster frame rate meaning cripper and smoother images so STFU
Actually, Blu-Ray not only has 20GB more space on disc, but also, more bandwidth (transfer speed). This means that Blu-Ray can support video at much higher bitrates.
The fact that both formats can output 1080p is not the biggest issue. The issue is that video on HD-DVD has to be compressed more to 1. Fit on disc, and 2. be small enough to support the throughput of the HD-DVD drive. More compression means lower quality (I’m sure everyone has heard super-compressed MP3s and noticed how staticy they sound. They same is true for video, except it manifests itself as blockiness, and blurriness).
Blu-Ray supports higher quality video because it does not need to be compressed as much. This is a mathematically proveable fact. The same video stream encoded with the same codec but at differing bitrates, will ALWAYS be bettwr quality in the higher bitrate version.
The sad fact is that by converting the HD-DVD stream to blu-ray, we are still forced to the lower video quality of HD-DVD. If it had been released on blu-ray, it would have been a superiror encode due to higher bitrate and less compression. Paramount was known for doing seperate encodes for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.
Don’t they know how much the loose in income by not do a blu-ray version??
Don’t they know how much the loose in income by not make a blu-ray version?? Sounds to me like they has done this only to piss of the blu-ray community…
Release Transformers on Blu Ray and I’ll buy it tomorrow….
Transformers will be out on Blu-Ray next year. I betcha. Heck, Cars has been out on dvd for a year or longer now and I just saw a commercial for Cars on Blu-Ray disc coming in November!
Plus, the national medial association of america or whatever has proclaimed Blu-Ray to be superior to HD-DVD so it would obtusely ridiculous for them to not release Transformers on Blu-Ray. Millions of PS3 owners would mean another wave of millions of dvd sales. C’mon Paramont. You stupid pansies. Hah!
I was in a bad mood when I learned that the canceled the making of transformers on Blue ray I didn’t even go out to the theaters to watch it I wanted to wait until it cam out on Blue ray because my home system is better hen the theater. Shit! Now I am boycotting everything Paramount until Transformers comes out on Blue Ray.
Ha ha, how’s that working out for you?
My understanding there is to be a Transformers release on Blu-Ray via japan /asia, as Paramont has no publising rights.
Yeah, it’s all about the money, just like Kevin Trudeau says, just like everything in this world. I guess somebody got lots for not putting it on blu-ray. Like, lots more than what they would make by selling the discs!! We’re all human, this is how we work. Don’t ignore the obvious, which is what most people want to do nowadays.
I agree with lovemonkey. both formats are the same quality. i have both formats. i have to admit that when a movie comes out on both formats, sometimes it look better on HD DVD and vise versa. Just because the bandwith is higher on blu-ray, doesnt mean that the video will have a higher bitrate. it just allows more room for extra stuff. Has anybody ever noticed that the bandwith may be related to the pits of the disc. Blu-ray has its pits more compressed since it holds more data than HD DVD and both formats use the same wavelength. so more data per second. If you don’t know what I an talking about, go study your physics. Anyone who ever starts talking mess about people supporting their rival format needs to grow up. They are just movie formats. you life doesn’t revolve around it. you did not develop the technology.
Anyways, I am more for Blu-ray because as a proud blu-ray burner owner, blu-ray is more resistance to scratches and holds more data. Thats all the benefit blu-ray has over HD DVD.
Wouldn’t having a higher ability to hold information have an advantage in the long run, considering that all we are doing is making longer, more technical, films that will require more room to add extras on to the discs? It just doesn’t make any sense to take films and only make them available on one format. That’s like putting out a music album on cassette tape, but not on CD, or even more only allowing for a song or album to come out as an mp3, instead of any of the multiple music formats that can be used in this world(AIFF, AAC, WAV). What ever. It is just stupid. In the long run someone will hate their decision, but for now all of us with Bluray are stuck buying films from Asia and outside the American market. If Paramount thinks that peopl are not going to find a way to get their fix of their films, they are wrong. The only thing they are going to lose is the ability to capitalize on it!
I will buy a blu-ray version of this from somebody if they do it. Any takers? Email me

uhhh guys you don’t understand the only reason it didn’tcome out on blue ray is because the company is hddvd only unlike others which are BD and HDdvd
It’s a well known fact that the executives at Paramount took what amounts to a bribe to kill their blue-ray support. I think Paramount is just shit for doing this. They used to support both formats.
I’m not even going to buy the dvd. Why throw my money away on a company that doesn’t give a rats ass about the people who pay their bills?
This is a complete joke!! Transformers HD-DVD can’t be transfered to Blu-ray due to the frame rate issue. In fact, scenarist won’t even import the ves file. I really wish people wouldn’t post unless they have tried it. Yet another wasted link from google!!
Microsoft paid paramount 150 million dollars for a 1 year hddvd exclusive contract. Microsoft is of many on the board of trustees for hddvd, whereas names like sony, sun micro system, Disney, fox, and apple, are on the board of trustees for blue ray. Although it hasn’t been confirmed its also suspected that Microsoft paid Michael Bay off because he was unhappy with the decision to make transformers exclusive, and threatened to never work with paramount again. On a side not i find it funny that this forum’s spell checker corrects an uncapitalized microsoft, but not sony. Apple and Fox are both proper nouns as well as common nouns, so its understandable not to correct them, but the spell checker doesn’t even recognize Sony as a word, much less give the correct capitalization of it.
why didnt paramount just increase the price of each Transformers on Blu-Ray instead of taking the 150 mil. im sure they would have covered that amount in a few days.
Paramount sold out, it’s crazy! Dont they know how many PS3’s are out there – almost every household had a ps2 it will be the same in a few years for the PS3 – people will happily pay an extra few quid for high def version should it be HDDVD or BRD it could be clawed back, (150mil might not look so good when they have a warehouse full of hddvd that no one wants!)
Blu-Ray is reported to be outselling HDDVD by 2:1 – walk into any video shop, super market or online you will see all other’s have seen that HDDVD is going to be a slower mover, there is always a far better range of blu-ray!
reghardware reports :
“Blu-ray discs outsell HD DVDs almost 3:1 in Europe”
“Blu-ray discs outsell HD DVDs 2:1 in America”
ok the sums….
Transformers HDDVD first week = 190′000 sales
Had it been blu-ray that could have been 570′000 sales
Thats a big difference!
Paramount, hang you head in shame, tell microsoft to stick there money! We’ll all be in the que in the morning for the blu-ray!
You are nothing but a whining bitch! JUST STFU! BLUE RAY IS SHIT SO IS SONY. I do however have a ps3, and I use it for gaming not watching movies… stupid sony, they are too cocky, what if blu ray does fail then you got a gaming system with an over priced POS blu ray player inside, at least microsoft saved people money, and allowed them to choose whether they want hidef or not.
Yeah- I totally would have bought a blu-ray of Transformers. That’s one of the few movies that I think are worth picking up to watch again and again on my Flat Panel.
You are all a bunch of hot-heads who dont know the facts, so you post an obnoxiously long rant about the doom-and-gloom of HD-DVD. They’re never going to make a choice on formats. Contrary to popular beliefe, this is not like betemax vs VHS. Those were new technologies. This HiDef war is the same technology (aside from a couple extra gigs of space) on both sides. It’s all about $$$$$! Thats it. There is no other factor than that. Paramount dropped Blu-ray just in time for Transformers because they were offered $150 MILLION dollars and they wet their pants. (In the corporate world $150 big ones now are better than $200 big ones later…sad isnt it?)
Both formats will be around for a LONG time and eventually all movies will be available on both formats or, like LG (God bless them) everyone will manufacture dual format disc players and everything will go back to normal. Infact, Im willing to bet that a lot of you out there couldn’t tell the difference between standard and high-def anyway, without a side-by-side comparison…it’s OK, you can admit it…you’re only caught up in the hype. You are reading some of these post and thinking “What the hell does that mean!?!” Isn’t America Great?!!!
By the way….Blu-ray is the best : )
HddvdIsdead , lol , Bluray rocks and it was free with my PS3
all you clowns that hddvd are dumb a$$’s
Its funny reading all these posts about how sony is dumb and blu-ray is a POS media format but now that 90% of the major movie studios are backing blu-ray and Toshiba isnt even going to be making any HDDVD players its time to eat some crow. LOL. I mean the biggest backer of HDDVD now is the porn industry
So….i got a question
Ive always been a blu-ray supporter….got a ps3 over a year ago i think.
My question is now that HD-DVD is all but completely dead will movies previously released of only HD-DVD (such as transformers) be immeadiately released on blu-rau or will paramont still have to honor their one year bribe?
Seeing as how all the other movie studios that were exclusive to HDDVD at some point have been able to get out of whatever contract they had I’m thinkin paramount probably has some clause that will allow them to opt out of the contract somehow.
