I’m a Digital Life right now so I can’t test my hacked, smacked, and cracked iPhone, but Gizmodo has a great thread about the iPhone unlock and the vagaries of the new firmware which includes the Wi-Fi Music Store and a few other improvements. As far as I can tell there are no issues with the upgrade, but who knows for sure. At least we know that the original FUD wasn’t quite as dire as it first appeared to be. Clearly, Apple loves haxors.

my first 4GB iphone was sort of hacked a little.I was still using the at&t sim card that came with the phone. When i sync my phone with itunes on my macbook,it said that there was an new update.I went on and updated the phone,after the update the phone turned to a brick.after several hours of talking to AT&T and Apple,apple wanted me to send the phone in for repairs and would give me a loaner 8GB for 29 bucks till they repair it.I could wait that long so i went back to the AT&T store and of course the 4GB iphone was sold out.I finally bought the 8GB iphone and called AT&T so still keep my current number and plan.After all the talking on the phone and syncing it with Itunes,it asked if i wanted to update the new (unhacked and modified)8GB phone..I clicked on update phone,couldnt watch so i walked away.come back to the phone and and the update WORKED!!!. Loaded my pictures,contacts,and music on the iphone.EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE !!!! including the updates apple said the phone would do. Im very happy but i know that one day there will a hacker out there that will find a crack for the update.
