What’s more shocking to hear than “the Mets won’t be in the playoffs this year”? Oh, I don’t know, how about “Halo 3 doesn’t natively run in high definition.”
Um, wtf? Halo’s not in HD? ‘fraid not…
It seems the game moves along with two frame buffers, whatever those are, both of which run at 1152×640, several pixels short of 720p. This was done to ensure the dynamic lighting chugged along as smoothly as possible. So technically, the game doesn’t run at native HD.
Bungie has a far more technical explanation on its Web site of what it did and why. Bottom line is that Bungie has your best interests at heart.

HD is much over-rated. I’ll take smooth graphics and no lag anyday.
Yeah, I have heard that its not the most impressive graphics, but beautiful in its own right. I’ll take the no lag and good game play over a few more pixels. Substance over style. Something some people don’t understand.
Gotta agree with chuck, High def does not mean a whole lot when your game lags.
Not that I disagree with the previous comments, but it seems like we’re making excuses either for the programmers of the game, or the inadequacy of the 360 itself for not being able to render HD gaming with lag free and smooth graphic gameplay.
I agree, I’d choose a smoother running game over a crystal clear picture, but I say “bah” to the fact that we can’t have both!
its not the xbox 360 thats the lag problem. It’s the HDTV’s themselves that cause the lag. Any HD console lags in HD. Some people will argue there hdtv doesnt lag at all. BUT so far 6ms is the minimal resposnse time.

Believing that you can either have smooth gameplay or HD graphics is such a cop out! Everyone deserves and should get BOTH. Unfortunately, the sheep will likely not notice or care.

what ever some might say halo 3 is without a doubt THEE most impressive game on any format on any generation,

i dont consider my self a “sheep” yet i dont care….but what i do care for is tight gameplay mechanics, engaging storyline, believable AI , then graphics.
show me a game that looks as good as halo 3, as the amount of onscreen combatants and has a lighting model as beautiful as halo3’s and an epic story as that said game and i will eat my 360

you have got to be the most ignorant person in the world. Very few games are true 1080p on any console. Most are just upscaled, oh wait im sorry the 360 upscales most games the ps3 doesnt. upscaling fixes Jaggies and polishes up a little. The ps3 just mainly runs 720. Anyway that why i only use my ps3 for Blu-Ray, cause most games SUK a NUT
