Oh you heard right my friends. You better watch the hell out come this Autumn, ’cause Verizon has a phone coming out that is going to show that iPhone who’s boss. According to Verizon’s Wireless CMO, the Voyager is not only the “best” phone, but it’s also going to “kill the iPhone”. Strong words!
I mean, at first I was skeptical, but look at all the features the Verizon Voyager will have:

Goddamn, are you serious? Between the HTML browser and ability to play MP3s, I don’t even know where to start. I am seriously beyond impressed. In fact, with the ability to have up to 8GB of storage via shitty microSD cards, I don’t think the iPhone has a chance. After all, what says “competition” more than some ugly-ass brick on a CDMA network? Oh yeah, CDMA phones. Real GSM killers. That’s like saying the rooster on the Corn Flakes box could kick the shit out of Cap’n Crunch.

It’s bigger than the enV all around. It’s also thicker than the iPhone. I hate the iPhone, but I’d suggest that over the Voyager. I was extremely disappointed with it. If I had to pick from the four new phones VZW released, I’d suggest the Venus or Pearl.

Furthermore, it’s no longer 1998. Nobody gives a flying crap about how tiny your Zoolander-esque phone might be. These days, people want functionality. The Voyager has both a touch-screen interface AND a full tactile keyboard. It appears to be about the same size as a Pocket PC, which is plenty small enough. The point you (and a lot of other people) seem to be missing is this: The Voyager isn’t meant to convince Apple Fanboys to ditch their beloved iPhones. It’s meant to give current Verizon customers the same kind of features that AT&T customers are getting.

Alot of smartphones have the iphone beat when it comes to features. It’s all about the user interface and that gorgeous 3.5 inch touchscreen. I’m not a apple fanboy but i sure luvs me iphone. it’s shiny and purty. but of course, the “iphone-challenged” Peter wouldn’t know any thing about that.
Yeah, the graphics fall way short and the phone just looks a good deal cheaper. The factory photos make it look like it could come close, but this real shot shows it for what it is: a lesser product. I’m sure it can do plenty, but in order to compete it would have to be available for considerably less than the iPhone due to materials and style that would have to grow on you at best. The quality of the iPhone is unparalleled even if it isn’t using full potential with faster internet and more memory. I’ll hang around until thats available. Until then, the Voyager and anything else out there will do little to divert my attention.
Isn’t it funny that Apple offered the iPhone to Verizon first? The graphics kill the thought of purchasing this phone. I have a Motorola from Verizon that is near two years old and it’s graphics dominate the ones on the Voyager home screen. No thanks.

I like the iPhone and the Voyager….but one thing I thing the iPhone needs is a full keyboard like on the Voyager y’know what I mean? I’ve tried both…and TXTing on the iPhone kicked my ass it took me forever to type on word cuz I kept pressin the wrong letter. I am a TXT junkie by the way….But the iPhone and the Voyager are VERY similar y’know? I agree that the graphics on the Voyager aren’t QUITE up to par to the iPhones but I like both to tell you the truth. They both are the sweetest phones out there if u ask me. I give a thumbs up to both of them.
William, I can I’m extremely disappointed because, I don’t know, I spent a good half hour fondling it the other day. It’s a no frills clunker with the crap Verizon UI. The features aren’t bad and the haptic feedback touch screen is fine for what it is, but I didn’t like the hardware itself. It felt cheap and flimsy. I’d rather have the enV than the Voyager.
I like my phones to have full functionality like most of you, but the Voyager is a beast. I could give two shits about the iPhone, I think it sucks and I don’t think it’s meant to pull Apple fanboys away. We’re not the ones saying it’s the ‘iPhone killer’, either. That’s Verizon talking. How much does the Voyager cost? I think it sounds cool, but the whole stick out keypad will make it look rather distasteful. The iPhone, in my opinion, has a sleaker, better design. However, I was excited to here that VZW has something just like the iPhone. I was disappointed when the iPhone was only open to AT&T.

Sure it looks purdy, but for only $45.00 extra you can get the special data cable you need to use to get your contacts and calendar data over. Plus the extra $30 for the windows only software. And your ringtones are a bargain at $5 for 20 seconds and last only a year…. etc…
OVERALL THE VOYAGERS PLANS WITH EVERYTHING IS STILL CHEAPER! AND ITS BETTERERESTER…EST LOL

Okay, you are lame ! get your facts right if you’re gonna hate on Verizon. the cable is not even twenty bucks, you can get the windows software for free if you’re not a total dipstick (of course we’re not expecting much from a iFan), and not only can you make your own ringtones on the Voyager, but if you chose to pick theirs, your tones last for as long as you keep contracts with verizon, AND they can be transfered onto newer phones up to three times within Verizon !! so lets not be a loser and make up shit about Verizon to make the iPhone sound more exciting. besides, if you’re reallly that grossed out by most advanced and richest company to offer cellular phone service, then hack the damn jewel and put it on Virgin or whatever you have ! …yeah Virgin sounds about right for you :)
Ok i have a 8125 and its just as fnctional as the iphuck. but i can pull my battery incase the iphone does that classic mac lock up. but where is the ability to unlock your frozen phone. you have to take it into the service people to get that hope ya dont loose your info on there. ALSO iphone is prettier then its competition SO WHAT. how vain are you that you will spend 3x the price for a better looking phone that functions just as well as the others? LG Voyager has it done right. and its a damn cell phone how intence does it matter your graphics are. you seriously gonna drain your battery to watch a HD movie on your cell phone? its just a cell phone not a home entertainment center!!. Everyone here is talking about the graphics on the screen but what photos are you looking at? You won’t know how good the graphics are unless you have the phone in your hands. Looking at the Verizon Voyager media pictures it looks AMAZING but on blogs and youtube the graphics look horrible. I’m guessing 99.9999% of you don’t have access to a Voyager so don’t judge based on what it looks like online. Wait until it comes out and go test it for yourself.
I think the iPhone does beat it in some categories but the Voyager has a lot of functionality that the iPhone doesn’t. QWERTY keyboard, 2 screens, size and price? I think the Verizon LG Voyager is nothing short of a winner. In the very least it will increase competition for Apple and make them strive to release the best product themselves.

I own an iPhone and I’m pretty happy with it. Although it lacks a few features, but apple could update the software to add those features if they weren’t such cheapskates. I’m curious to see what verizon has store and I won’t judge it til I’ve tested it myself.
The IPhone and the Voyager will appeal to different crowds. The Voyager has some obvious advantages over the IPhone (full QWERTY keyboard, two screens, much faster data network, lower projected phone price), but the IPhone certainly has some strong advantages as well (built-in memory, double-click zoom, better looking). I don’t think the IPhone is in any danger of extinction because Apple has such a ferociously loyal fanbase, but the Voyager will certainly provide a solid media/messaging phone alternative for people who don’t want to downgrade to the AT&T network.
I can not wait for the voyager. I definatly don’t think the iphone will be killed by the Voyager but I do think there will be a change in prices. I cant afford an Iphone so I cant wait to get the voyager. I love to text. My friend has the enV and i love the keyboard to me the voyager is the Iphone and enV put together. In the front you see Iphone on the inside enV my two favorite phones. what more could I want.

In all honesty, I’m just glad that Verizon is finally getting some NEW PHONES!!! I’ve been wanting to get a new cell for my new every two for a few months now, but nothing really appealed to me (which is why I decided to wait to see if they’d come up with something new). The Voyager seems like it’s going to be a nice phone, but in all honesty I plan on getting the VENUS because I don’t need all the extra (I’m paying an arm, leg, foot, and toe) “amenities” the Voyager or the Iphone has (anything else I’m needing to do can be done on my COMPUTER). I just want something different and I want some type of TOUCH SCREEN- The Venus will do that for me for a cheaper price. That’s all lil ole me needs. *smile*

Ragnar- i read comments when i get the chance on new products. This is the first i responded to. For everyones information- i was on the Apple bandwagon for years- buying every MAC laptop to come out–currently with the Pro. I recently had an IPHONE which I found to be better than any other phone i had. My brother bought a voyager about a month ago. Lets just say- i broke contract with At&T and now i’m a verizon customer with the Voyager and it is far better than the IPHONE. Not breaking balls- but before you make statements- try the products first.

For those of you that post about the iPhone obviously don’t have one. It sucks. You can’t change any of the options without loading a 3rd party software onto your phone which takes away from the speed and functionability of the phone. Second the keyboard sucks. If you have one you know what I mean when you go to type one thing and then it changes it to something else. Third, At&t has the worst service ever. It isn’t fast at all, it doesn’t even compare to the speed of Verizon. While yes the iPhone was very innovative, it was the first of its kind, and we all know the first of any new product is the worst. Verizon has really stepped up its game.
look, i got a samsung sch-u540 cause i got my first phone(a razr) stolen and i have wanted a better phone for sooo long. my dad insists that i get verizon so i can’t even get the iphone that i wanted at first but not anymore. 2 of my friends have it and they say it sucks. i also wanted to get an enV but i thought it was too big for not enough apps. when i saw the voyager i realized that i had to get it because it was the best of both worlds!

I know a lot of people with the iphone and i think it is good but terrible fot typing. The Voyager has a normal keyboard. I have an enV right now and I love the keyboard. THe vaoyager may be big but it is still sweet. I dont beleive it is trying to copy the iphone. Verizoon just wants it currant customers the same things as At&T.

I like the iPhone, because it’s something NEW from Apple, a knew catagory, plus it’s glassy screen. But, I like the voyager because it offers the same thing but, for less, and for Verizon. However I don’t believe that “because it’s from verizon” is a good point to make… Apple offered the iPhone to them first, but they turned it down. God forbid, they have more than one phone that is equally close. I was dissapointed to find out that Verizon was going to “copy” it, but in the end, I think it’s not too bad. I think the keyboard makes it a little tacky, but it is one of the things that the iPhone is missing. So, as for me…I’ll get an iPod Touch, for the glassy look, and the Voyager for the phone…or the VENUS, which is a little bit of a step down from the Voyager, as far as I can tell, but still has the touch screen interface, though not as intense as the Voyager.

I just read on a site that verizon is going to have a rebate and it will be $50 which isn’t too bad. I kind of wish it were a $100 but you take what you can get.

The Voyager looks big and has much more than I need… just looking for a phone I can send dates both TO, from my ibook, and FROM, if I enter the info onto the phone’s calendar from out in the field.

I have an enV. The Mac should be able to use iSync to sync contacts both ways. My Mac offered to do it with the enV, but I declined – I have well over 500 contacts (the enV’s limit). And that, really, is the problem in the business world. There is no easy way I’ve found to sync a subset of the Apple Address Book’s contacts…

This phone is the most amazing phone out for verizon. I went to Circuit city monday before it came out and the guy that worked there for verizon wireless had the phone and i got to play with it. Its an amazing phone. Definutly beats the iphone. And it has a whole kayboard pad thing which is even better.

I’m sorry guys the voyager is a feebly beefed up v phone. But the I phone killer should be the verizon xv6700. A small stubborn little brick that allows you to watch a full length movie and enjoy mp3s. Even as ringtones. The only thing the iphone has over the xv6700 is harddrive space.
