I just wanted to let you know about another technology that would work to enhance the GM system to make it even more secure for Police Officers and the public. This technology would allow a pursuing officer to positively identify the vehicle ahead without a clear view of its license number.
This technology is based on the vehicle’s lighting system and is detailed in the following NASA website:
http://www.createthefuturecontest.com/pages/view/entriesdetail.html?entryID=36

This identification system could also alert the officer of the number and relative size (children?) of the vehicle’s occupants by interrogating its seat belt/ air bag system. With the proper security clearances and safeguards, the system could possibly allow the officer to enable the Stolen Vehicle Slowdown feature himself, from his vehicle, without even interfacing with OnStar. This would save valuable time and possibly save more lives.
