The reason we haven't switched is that it's just not great as a business tool, and until it is we can't migrate. The hard facts for our office setup is:

1) All our clients use Exchange.
2) We use Exchange.
3) The only good solution for Mac users here is Entourage.
4) Entourage sucks in comparison to Outlook (when it comes to Exchange). You can't sync notes, tasks, the signature configuration is damn near stupid, and unless you have Entourage 2008, there's no favorite folders.
5) Second fun aspect is if you use Quickbooks online, you need IE. Running Parallels (which sucks) or any other VM is just annoying, almost more annoying that rebooting.
6) If you take care of your system, the OS is fine. If the OS is fine, there's no tasks that I would do that I can't already do faster on a PC. Granted, this is mostly 3rd party tools that you can't credit Windows for, but the truth is with them I'm much faster than I would be on a Mac. I could go to a Mac and work my way back up, but I just don't see the point yet (again, since my OS is fine).

humberto
there are plenty of games available on the Mac, and there is Parallels for those that aren't so you get the best of both worlds.

Gabriel
it's got nothing to do with technical knowledge: I've been building PC's for over ten years and using them for over 20 (I can still remember my XT with its EGA monitor): it's about time. End of the day do you want to spend half your time worrying about your OS or do you just want something that works? The best thing about a Mac is you never worry about the OS...ever, and it gives you more time to do other things.

PaulG
I hear you, and it's one of the reasons I never switched (in the end I switched because of Vista). Things are changing though, and it's not all smug turtle neck wearing latte drinking types....least I don't fit any of that :-)

Great title, so true. As a previous windows user/mac hater who recently converted, I realize now that for all the years I was hating macs, and using crashy, inherently broken windows machines I was ignorant. The switch was painless, I installed parallels and transported my windows machine as a security blanket, but have only opened the VM for cross-browser testing for web design stuff.

It is definitely true, once you go mac, you won't go back.

The only reason I haven't switched over to Mac is that I would first need to become a doofus hipster and drink lattes/machiattos all day long while trying to look cool at Starbucks with my Macbook.

Secondly, I want more than one mouse button.

Thirdly, I am a mentally deficient candy seller and can't afford one.

Finally, I believe that using a computer should be a privilege and one must pay dearly for that privilege. Even if that means learning how to install drivers, reading dump files, system logs etc.

Mac is for people who only cares about "it is nice, looks great", and also has a low technical knowledge. Mac offers you a nice machine and you don't have to take care of maintenance, drivers, ...

All you have to do is PAY the look, PAY the components and PAY the easy maintenance.

If you knew about tech (a minimum to know how to buy components, install drivers and run an antivirus) you would prefer buy computer by pieces and install linux or windows and offer to charity the remaining money.

I have some computers in home, my wife says mac looks better in the saloon and thats the reason I buyed an imac.

Mac for love ;)
