Circular LCDs on the way

I’ve got a friend who’s obsessed with roundness. Spheres in 3D, and perfect circles in 2D. He’s all up in my grill about it being natures ideal shape, blah blah. He’s going to flip when I tell him about the new circular LCD displays Toshiba/Matsushita has developed. These aren’t really for computers, they’re for more bric a brac consumer products, but we could see really useful activites for them later on. Your phone’s got a second display on the back of the main one, why not your laptop? At just under 3-inches in diameter, they’d be perfect.

Matt, that’s interesting that you should post this. A few years ago, ComputerGeeks.com sent out an e-mail around April Fool’s day advertising circular LCDs and I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I thought they looked cool. Here’s a link to the original ad…

Now we need to get to work on spherical lcds, so we can have digital globes that sync with Google Earth!
