In my humble opinion these two devices, as flagships of windows mobile devices, are quite impressive considering their functionality and customisability. I personally use wm device and am quite happy with its navigation and web functions.
I can recommend this freeware downloads site - http://www.freewarepocketpc.net , for downloading lots of handy applications.

I 2nd comments about the awesomeness that is the att tilt! I'm quite impressed with the quality of the integrated GPS (check my comparison to an iblue-737 at www.jrin.net ) -- it was spot on. I, however, do NOT like the keyboard, especially compared to the 8525 due to it's keys being rubber, vs plastic.

I would recommend getting MS voice command (it will read incoming calls, emails, and appointments, etc)!

I recently got the Tilt. I've been a WinMo fan for quite some time. I like to tinker and IMHO there's no better OS to do it with.

The first I recommend you do with your device is install Spb Pocket Plus 4.0 -- it just came out. It'll make your device much more finger friendly and generally easier to use via a very slick and highly customizable Today screen. http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en

Second, install KaiserTweaks: http://www.jongma.org/KaiserTweak/

Other than that it really comes down to what you expect to do with the device. There are so many different apps available. I happen to like Yahoo Go instead of using the crappy Pocket IE to read news, check stocks, weather, directions, etc. Works well with the built-it GPS too. The new Opera Mini is pretty slick too.

Speaking of GPS, get this free GPS testing app too: http://www.visualgps.net/VisualGPSce/ . It'll be more useful than other apps at actually seeing the GPS works correctly at times. And its free. Just make sure to have it point to COM4.

So... you've got an extremely flexible device and OS. Knock yourself out!

Enjoy!

ive personally never cared for WM and always always stuck with nokia and s60 platform bc of the unlimited software and personallization you could do.

anyways i own the tilt and aside from being a little bigger then im use too. its rocks and wm6 doesnt really bother me at all. although the att tilt version of the rom is kinda crappy at first bc the lack of options, you can pretty much find anything for it to customize,

ie.

soft key application
the original kaiser main screen with 5 tabs. which totally rocks!
tomtom. although i did have to update the quickgps recently
kaiser dialing pad

idk what else ive got, but in the end wm6 isnt to bad at all.

I'm seriously considering the Tilt, so I'd like to see what you think. I haven't used a WinMo device since 2003...
