As a current TiVo and former Rhapsody subscriber, the idea of putting the two together intrigues me. What doesn’t intrigue me is paying $17 a month for TiVo and another $13 a month to use Rhapsody on it. I like the services and all but $30 a month seems a little steep, especially on top of the extortion money that I have to shell out to Comcast every month to rent (against my will) a ridiculous and cumbersome box for every TV in the house.
That being said, if I were enough of a music junkie to want to be able to access a ton of music through my TV, this partnership might be a good bet. CNET liked the slick interface and the elegance with which "Rhapsody on TiVo effectively brings millions of songs to your home theater" but cited instability, no editorial content, and limited browsing functionality as shortcomings.
All in all it seems that, again, if you’re a huge music fan and something like this appeals to you, you’d probably like it. For the rest of us, though, it might be a little overkill, especially around the wallet region of your pants.
