We’re not sure if this is telling of how good the film is, how much geeks are into it, or of the state of high-def disc formats, but in less than a week on the market, Transformers is now the best selling HD-DVD title of all time. In less than a week.
Now that’s a dubious achievement to be sure, as we’re not even sure HD-DVD will be around in a year (fingers crossed), but it asks the question: do movies like Transformers drive HD-DVD adoption? Or Spider-man drive Blu-ray? Or will they do as I ask and adopt a single downloadable HD format that works with Xbox and Apple TV and Playstation and everything else?
I doubt it.
Transformers outsells all other HD titles [Slashgear]

geeks+transformers+meagan fox=$$$$$$$$
The single downloadable video format should be h264. It works on most devices like xbox360, apple tv, zune80, etc.
@ remo: yah, I’m with you on that. MS won’t ever go there, they’re commanded to use WMV whenever they can (booooo!). Not only is it compatible, it looks great, too.
I forgot to mention… yeah, Transformers is the best action film I’ve seen in years!
Pile of shit in disguise.
People will realize what an awful movie this is by the third viewing. It only took me once though.
@ matthew: Them’s fightin’ words! Tomorrow, I challenge you to backup your argument at BFF, which we haven’t announced yet, but you might like. Challenge!
Matt,
The original article that you referenced states that Transformers is the best selling title of either hi-def format not just HD DVD. You should probably change your title.
I don’t know why you say the achievement is dubious.
There’s no dash in HD DVD… :P
Maybe I can buy it, smash it into pieces and slit my wrists with it. I hated this movie.
