Anyone fancying themselves as a professional cyberathlete should pack a bag filled with clothes, caffeine and an Xbox 360 controller and head out to Dallas. There, the Cyberathlete Professional League will host a Halo 3 competition from December 19th to 22nd. The top prize? A cool million bucks, which has already been deposited into a bank account for safekeeping.

The best part is that upon winning, you instantly get $250,000 in cash handed to you right then and there. There will be plenty of other prizes and such to go around for all, so it’s definitely worth hitting up if you’re a hell of a Halo 3 player. Anyone is welcome to join the tournament.

  • Another FINE article, as only the CrunchGear staff could do it. Let me clear some things up, because I actually took the 30 seconds to read the original article. (Of course it took Vince 30 minutes to read the same article, and his comprehension rate is about 70%, missing many important details.)
Fact #1: THERE IS NO “TOP PRIZE” of $1,000,000, cool, tepid or any other temperature. It is a $1 million dollar competition, with the million split 64 ways, the TOP prize being $250,000.
Fact #2: The contest is between Dec 18th and the 22nd, I’m quite sure you would be disqualified if you got there on the 19th ’cause you would miss the registration.
Fact #3: Before you pack any “clothes, caffeine and 360 controller”, make sure you have either the $275 pre-registration fee (before Nov 2nd) or the $475 late registration fee.
A heads up on a contest seems simple enough, until you botch all of the most important details. The title isn’t even TRUE! What kind of reporters are you? (and yes, I do think I could do better, if that’s your next question.)
If you were a REALLY good reporter, you would notice that “Cash prizes are delivered by mail, in check form only, directly to CPL tournament winners approximately 90 days after completion of a CPL event.” as per the terms and conditions on the CPL website. So don’t expect to get paper money handed to you after you win. The best you can hope for is a big fake plastic check with your name on it!

  • no you cant faggot the 1000000 is divided between 64 players.
