Slingbox Solo is like witchcraft to old folks

The Times’ David Pogue, who always comes across as an incredible nerd, is old. How old? Why, he’s so old, small things like the Slingbox Solo knock his socks off. What, it can transmit video from my home TV to my laptop halfway around the world? That’s insanity!
It can, and it’s not.
Pogue’s overview of the just-released Solo had to have been written with luddites in mind. Once you parse through all the hand-holding—high def signal use component cables, my Linksys router is giving me trouble—you’re left with very little.
If there’s a quick way to sum up his many, many words, it’s this: the Solo works splendidly for less money than previous models, though our very own Blake had some problems.

Hm. Well, your snarky summary–”If there’s a quick way to sum up his many, many words, it’s this: the Solo works splendidly for less money than previous models”–isn’t actually true to my column.
Slingbox Solo is also smaller, it works with high-definition for the first time, it’s now available for Symbian, it has pass-through for the first time, it will soon offer TiVo-like playback toys without a TiVo… actually, there’s quite a bit new here. Not my fault if you missed it.
And finally, a small point: Yes, I do write for an audience for laymen. People who’ve never heard of the Slingbox and could be forgiven for needing some help with the concept!
Having a Web site called Crunchgear.com call my column too basic is like a NASA scientist ridiculing an article that explains how airfoils generate lift.

It’s three paragraphs and a loose sentence… Is it really that hard to proof this before it goes live?
Title: “withcraft” I assume should be “witchcraft” (how did that get past a spell check?
WTF is this sentence?: “Once you parse through all the hand-holding—high def signal use component cables, my Linksys router is giving me trouble—you’re left with very little.”
“over” should be “our” in this bit: “though over very own Blake had some problems.”
I mean… COME ON!?! I normally don’t nit-pick about these things, but this is just sad for being less then even a paraphrase of an article on another website. We come here expecting professionalism and some modicum of journalistic ability, it seems that as TC grows, the writing integrity goes downhill. It’s not like this was a scoop that was time sensitive or anything…
