I’ve gotten into both Waffles and What.CD? and while they don’t quite match OiNK on all levels, it’s still a great effort by both parties. I’ve found myself uploading and using What.CD? more than Waffles though, mostly due to the fact that Waffles is down and sucking. If it boiled down to making a choice right now, I’d definitely choose What.CD?.
The funny thing is that when I first joined What.CD? yesterday, there were no ratio requirements. Now the ratio is back and everyone got 10GB of upload credit so that people start downloading. That’s the thing! People aren’t downloading enough! Everyone is busy uploading to get the amount of content back up to that of OiNK’s Pink Palace.

Oink going down was a sad, sad thing.. but your post sounds promising and definitely got me excited. I own high quality headphones (Shure SE-530’s) so nothing under a 320 bitrate gets near them. Or, where possible, lossless still rules any MP3!

I miss OiNK deeply. I spent 5 years downloading and uploading high quality music on OiNK. It was even saddening when OiNK decided to stop doing discographies because it was beautiful thing to be able to grab many great artist entire collections in high quality format in one click. I’m an avid music fan who not only downloads but also buys music whenever necessary. I’m itching to get my music collection growth back up and running.

I am not going to contend that I am more worthy of an invite that all the rest of these nice folks, however you should choose me, because I am at the university and would definitely spread my own invites around (and am sitting on a huge bandwidth thats being wasted by not downloading). Please invite me, OiNK meant a great deal to us all. It was mearly a great catalouge, no other place on the web (legal or otherwise) offered such a comprehensive library of great music. Yeah sure, there’s itunes and amazon kind of, but those are not the places where one can really go to look for music, those are places to find all of the mass produced garbaged, and highly marketed waste. Please, I miss you OiNK. I only hope that your spirit can live on, perhaps in what.cd…

1. I own an extensive library of classical music CDs which I have mostly archived now (total 50GB archived, about 200GB to go). A lot of the recordings are very rare and hard to find, and I think they would make a valuable contribution to the What.CD collection.
2. I am a member of several other private communities and have maintained good ratios in them.
3. I’m a daily (sometimes more) reader of CrunchGear and TechCrunch, and I really appreciate what you provide the community with :).

Whatup man? Yeah, I need to get hooked up with SOMETHING that can fill the void i currently have as a result of Oink being gone.
Why should you send me an invite? Well, for starters, I was an oink power user+ (and screenshots to prove it). I have A LOT of stuff that I can share, a vast majority of it out of print or hard to find. In addition, I have a lot of underground stuff that just doesnt exist on most other networks.
The power user+ status in oink should speak for itself, but basically it means I upload at least as much as I download, usually more. All of my stuff is ripped properly with logs and are all of the highest quality. I have over 100GB of music ready to share.
I would be super stoked to get an invite, and would be happy to share the wealth. RIP OINK.

As a former oink power user I’d love a peek at either of these sites if you ever wanted to spare another invite that you earn – I’m not really into ‘pleading’ my case as to why I deserve this more than another…that’s a little abstract but I can say that I rip lossless flacs of good music that worth sharing, and spend the time to use proper bbcoding to create good looking uploads.

Oink was my major route to new music when I had time on land between time at sea. I never went there to make buddies and ‘get on the inside.’ I went there to download and upload. I wish what or waffles could get the username and password lists from Oink and honor them. Otherwise how do you get us back? Especially if we didn’t go to Oink to socialize? I never even knew the first name of my invite/sponsor to Oink. It stinks to have to rely on luck all over again to get back into the bittorrent fray.
I wasn’t an ‘active community member’ but I was an active user. It is all about the music for me, not the banter in forums. If that’s not good enough for an invite I don’t know what is.
I miss Oink so much. I was a power plus user and a terrific seeder. I am a dj so when I get the good stuff lots of people get to enjoy it too. I miss Oink so much I cannot even begin to describe it. The electronic selection has some stuff in it you cannot even find for sale and I miss the learning of new music portion of my life. My decks spin things they’ve spun before and serato already has a visual wave representation of them memorized…. thus I get bored and stop being inspired.
