I can never understand how a technology can generate such emotion in people like the above post.

How can Blu Ray or HD-DVD attract such adamant fanboy followers? Amazing.

Who cares what the format is, they essentially do the same thing. The decision for a (non foaming at the mouth fanboy) will come down to price point and available media. End of story.

LOL there is no need to be humble, Bluray just finished another week of DESTROYING hd-dvd.

We all know bluray has outsold hd-dvd weekly for almost a year now, its been over for a long time, Bluray is the Winner...articles like this do sort of show that some higher ups at Sony might just have their heads up their asses.

No need to be humble, its been over for a long time...hd-dvd fans, come on..enough with this, your taking this article as a god send. It's already over for hd-dvd LOL.

Sony thought they had this thing sewn up last summer with their PS3-driven market penetration, larger unit sales of discs and larger roster of exclusive content - thus the refusal to discount the players. Toshiba didn't play along, though, paying for a high-profile exclusive deal with Paramount, and aggressively cutting prices on their players. If Sony doesn't cut their player prices soon, they'll have another Betamax on their hands.

Personally I don't care which one wins. And, much as it pains me to say, I think the longer the war goes on, the more both sides will have to cut price points, so it's actually a good thing that this hasn't been decided yet.

Funny this comes after 90k HD A2's were sold in one weekend - I live in a SMALL town in Missouri (around 10,000 people) and know of 7 people who are now proud HD DVD owners. You know that if those 90,000 people who snatched up the cheap players buy even just a few movies each it could turn the tide of this dumbass format war! I know I will be buying Bladerunner the Final Cut in HD DVD now.

I love the format war so much it hurts.

Do you think Toshiba would have moved HD-A2s for $98 last Friday if there wasn't a competing format?

And who the he!! wants a DVD player for $450 when for less you get a PS3 that can serve as a Blu-ray player AND a music and photo media center.

The point is this: last year, buying both formats cost you $1500. Now it's down to $500 -- PS3 plus that A2 @ Wally's World -- and that is a good thing for all of us HD lovin' pee ons.

There's only one conclusion that can be drawn from Sony calling this a stalemate, Blue-Ray is getting handed its ass.

It's over people. We have a winner.
