According to Consumerist.com, T-Mobile "will now charge existing customers $18 when they buy a new phone" which is apparently supposed to help the wireless carrier "underwrite the cost of selling subsidized phones to new customers."
I’m no psychologist but this seems like a bad idea, especially given the competition between mobile phone companies. Sure, for most people $18 isn’t going to break the bank but it’s the principle of the thing. Would you switch if your carrier did this?

Call the business unit. They always have better deals. I got the Wing on a one year contract for 100$, TWICE. Oh, and no shipping or activation fee. I may add a 4th line to get the Shadow.

$18 fee. This is what they make feet for. Turn 180 degrees and move one foot in front of the other until you are out the door.

and deal with Cingular or Verizon? no thanks. I’ll pull the “I’ve been a customer for 4 years” crap or just suck it up. it comes out to a buck fifty a month.
