It would not surprise me if this was just a big ploy to gain recognition for the company. When this product was shown on TV almost one year ago as a working pen at the electronics convention I thought what a great idea but by the time it gets out it's going to be just like a certain laser level that came out a few years ago and was sold out everywhere because everybody wanted one. Well a few weeks later I saw many of these returned because it was hyped up too much and in the end I returned mine too because my 4 foot level was much more accurate than that laser level. What I am trying to say is that if it takes EPOS this long to release an already demonstrated product that worked, possiblities are that some other will probably beat them to the market with their own version while EPOS still sits with their PROTOTYPE and says we are almost ready to release it to the public, only a couple more months.

The pen doesn't perform OCR itself, it just stores a file containing your pen strokes. These strokes can be transferred to your computer, where it performs HWR (not OCR, which just takes into account the image, but also how you drew the letters, as with a tablet PC).
