This does not ruin your USB cable, thus im sure it will leave it with an annoying smell. Not sure if it works... but i am sure that it doesnt ruin your cable due to the fact that the cable is sealed, stainless steel pins therefor it wont rust.

This is crap, in order to make a battery you need two different metals in an electrolyte solution. Look at the potato clocks, they use copper and zinc electrodes. All this would do is screw up your USB plug. Look in any general chemistry book if you doubt me.

BWAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA. This is almost as good as the lantern battery / AA's thing. I wonder how many people will end up angry with usb cables that smell like onions?

How the hell does this work? There are 4 pins in usb, only 2 are for power...

Am I missing something here? I would imagine lemons or a potato would work much better.

I mean it sounds like the electrons would just be flowing all over the place, making this a horrible battery.

That's actually pretty cool. I imagine you could do that with any usb device as long as it doesn't require a lot more energy than the iPod does.
