Eliminate the “requirement” for zune software (IE mass storage spec full access)

Allow me to bi directionally move my music either way to or from the zune any time I want anyway I want via a simply drive letter. No software no Drivers.

Bonus Points? Wifi Network Drive again no zune software. JUST the drivers needed to set it up as attached storage via wifi.

On the device.

Along with album artist genre etc.. have an option called FOLDER where you start in your root music folder and you just navigate like that.

Allow same FOLDER view in other categories (pics podcasting and add an audio book section with the SAME setup as podcasts)

UNLIMITED no restriction wifi sharing IF the original file is free of DRM. If the original file has DRM apply whatever restrictions you want.

BUILD IN an RSS aggregator. IF you can not do it without PC side software make sure its NON Proprietary and PURELY functional. FIND an RSS FEED sync it with the ZUNE now the ZUNE can sync that feed all by itself over any open wifi NO pc needed any more. (killer app there) Make sure it will also sync video podcasts.

MORE CODEC SUPPORT. at a MINIMUM Divx/xvid/h264/aac/ac3 in ANY resolution the CPU can handle. (the zune as it is is nearly 100% useless as a video playback device. I simply will not wait around for 100% of my videos to convert since ZERO % of my videos are or come in WMV format.

Add Audible Support AND make sure I can put my OWN audio book mp3’s in this category just by tagging then “audio book” or something like that for genre. (like you do with podcasts) and make sure I can share NON DRM audio books.

Add a SLEEP timer. IE I set the number of minutes and after that many it PAUSES playback. if I hit play it goes for another cycle. If I hit nothing it goes to sleep. Pocket Tunes does this and its fantastic. I can fall asleep listening to an audio book knowing I will never have to scan more than 15 minutes from where I fell asleep.

Fix Album Art for books and podcasts. (IE use it just like with music) when I retag my podcasts and audio books as music it sees the album art as podcasts and it loses the album art. That sucks.

Bring back or do not stop producing the 30gig model (this is a personal desire) I hate the new slim models. The old model that I own is “perfect” the fit and feel is excellent and I like the soft textured feel of whatever plastic they use over the aluminum back of the ipod or new zunes.

AND if this thing really is running a version of CE OPEN IT UP A BIT so peopel can add third party apps THE POTENTIAL is nearly limitless.

DO THAT Microsoft and you will CRUSH the ipod. Except for the TOUCH I consider the ZUNE STRICTLY hardware wise to be far superior in hardware software GUI interface and screen to be FAR FAR superior to any other ipod model. The Shape and Feel is superior too. It just feels nice.

Your PC side software just makes me want to puke. I had to set up a dedicated PC just for syncing these things because it made mandatory for no reason except you could “updates” such as .net etc.. that I refuse to install on my regular machines.

THE ONE thing you did right software side was NOT burning your users by making the firmware backwards compatible. GENIUS move even though its a DUH move that most manufacturers seem to have forgotten (you freaking hear me creative!!)

THATS how you kill the ipod. THE ONLY way you can beat ipod is to GIVE CONSUMERS WHAT THEY WANT (wow what a concept) and stop shoving crap down there throats. LIKE zune software and locked hardware (ITS MY PROPERTY you know)

I just bought 4 zunes and plan to buy a few more (LOVE the wifi sharing feature GREAT for sharing podcasts political crap audio books etc..) ADD video sharing (most video podcasts are quite small really) Music sharing is useless so I do not even bother with that. Why send them music that they can only listen to 3 times when I can just tell them to goto the bands website and download it without any restrictions.

Get it together Microsoft. You made some GOOD moves with ZUNE 2 now really get on the ball and GIVE US WHAT WE WANT and we will make you rich.
