LG Venus review

I must warn you that this will be the shortest review of a phone we’ve ever done at CrunchGear. Why you may ask? Because we’ve already covered it extensively and filled you in on the specs. So I’m really only going to cover the touch interface and voice quality. That’s all there really is to write about. No need to get into the Verizon features as they haven’t changed.

Despite the feminine name the LG Venus is not just a shiny accessory for women. It’s a feature rich phone offered by Verizon with a unique touch screen interface that can be deceiving as it only uses the lower half of the screen. Slide up to reveal a 12-key pad, though, I doubt you’d be using it very much. The touch interface has haptic feedback and the menus change as you delve deeper into sub-menus. It’s nothing ground breaking, but a cool feature nonetheless, though, you can sweep through menus by sliding your finger up or down.

How’s the voice quality? Better than the Voyager, which wasn’t too bad.

Ok, I lied. I’ll touch on a few things other than voice quality and the touch screen.

The 2-megapixel camera is average and the microSD slot allows you to cram as much music as possible. I did not like that the speaker was placed on the back because who really wants to hold their phone to hear music or put that glossy glass screen face down? I suppose you can just stream your tunes over Bluetooth, but that entails you looking like a tool unless you have BT speakers.

The Venus is available now for $199.99.

  • Feature-rich? Not really.

The Venus is a good phone, yes. But it’s nothing special.

People are already complaining about the touchscreen. A phone without a QWERTY is pretty much useless nowadays. I’ve heard that it’s too small to use comfortably.

    http://comparati.com/1137-LG-Voyager-vs-LG-Venus

    I’ll stick with the BlackBerry…

    • To me a phone is for calling. no need for Qwerty. useless..for a person who lives inside a box and doesn’t think of others then maybe. There are many of us that think Qwerty is useless.

      • I work with many professionals and attend school, news flash phones are for much more than calling these days and have been for a while,
I store User ID’s (I don’t like to put passwords just in case is my paranoia,) I am able to maintain my very complex calander, play and store music, get directions,
check weather updates between shifts, take pictures of diagrams to study for my next exam (and see them clearly.)

These are NECSSARY utilizations of technology and are valuable for those who are active and have little time and a large need.
My co-workers and fellow students do not live in a “box,” we don’t want to carry 15 lbs of hardware with us if a fashionable/convient, viable device like the venus can provide all of the same tools and weighs a few onces.
I recieved one a few days ago, it is amazing, I don’t know what I did before I revieced it (O weight – that’s right rumage my back pack for my Ipod, my PDA and my Phone… what a waist of time and space…)

I am disapointed about the data convesion time to upload the external chip with info, but the sync to transfer phone numbers and while it should have a flash, it still takes very clear and beuatiful pictures. love the vibrating touch screen because it will also prevent you from pressing the buttons too hard… I am and old school texter so I didn’t go for the voyager like my brother-in-law, The Venus has everything I need and I am extremely happy with it. I am concerned about the 8G memory card issue but by the time I get one I am sure it will be cleared up.

    • Yes it’s true that a QWERTY keyboard is so much more useful but actually if you were texting all day, a normal keypad would be sufficient. I used to have the enV but then i learned how to text with T9 while it was closed and now i’m so much faster texting with it closed. So I guess it’s just one of those things that you learn to get used to. I wasn’t used to the applications closing when I slid the screen back down (since the enV keeps it open when you close it) but I’m used to it now.

And the keypad is just as big as any other phone. It looks hard to press but the keys actually pop out a little you so you can easily press them.

    • You’ve heard that its too small? So therefore you have never even held the phone yet are qualified to review it?

      • my venus is now in 2 parts… how do i fix that?

        • my phone is in 2 parts as well, it was working for a day because the tape was holding it together, then i woke up and it was in completely two parts. Piece of SHIT. now i got to get a new one , now being the third fucking venus. Fuck VENUS.!!!!!!

        • my phone was in 2 pieces too and when asurion gave me another one, the touchscreen didn’t work. the phone is nonsense. i am now getting the chocolate 3 in black. praying for better results

        • my phone did the exact same thing!! i have had EIGHT of these and i love them but i cant deal with it always coming off the track. it sucks but im getting a new phone. for someone who isnt gonna use their phone way too much i think its an awesome phone to have. the venus is my favorite out of all the phones ive had.

        • I am personally on my third replacement of this phone for this issue. I have treated this last replacement as delicate as newborn baby! My previous replacement was less than 6 months ago. The slide portion of the phone was ALMOST disconnected and the verizon store gave me a replacement. Since then, I had no problem unitl the entire top portion of the phone disconnected itself. Now, verizon wants me to submit a claim and pay $50 for a replace of the same DEFECTIVE phone. This is obviously a problem and I feel that replacement should be free or upgrage or change to different phone should be allowed.

    • I like my Venus. The Pro is that it is small and easily fits in my pockets and purse. The cons: I recently went in to a sister company because my battery is not holding a full charge. 2 bars down and the phone turns off(dead battery). Nothing os wrong with the battery and found nothing wrong with my phone. I was asked to go into a VZ store to ask to have the software upgraded and see if that helps. If there is an upgrade, I am honestly not aware and VZ does not contact Venus owners to spread the word. The buttons are small and uncomfortable, as I am an avid texter. I also noticed that when the phone it “lit up” it appears to fade in and out, like it cannot decide if it wants to close due to inactivity. The touch screen is also very finacky. I truley like my phone, but due to all the relatively small issues, I am just ready to give up ON LG all together and go back to Motorola. But I am not giving up yet.

  • Yeah what’s up with LG putting speakers on the back? All they have to do is put 1-2 tiny holes on the front like the PSP did.

  • Also some major bugs. It supports an 8 GB chip but the music sync will only recognize HALF the chip capacity. The memory function on the phone shows 8 GB, in a card reader, Windows reads it as 8 GB. Connect the phone to the computer with the included USB cable and then Windows sees it as 4 GB and you get “device full” after about 3.6 GB. After jumping through hoops trying to get Verizon Tech Support to understand that it is a problem and finally giving up. I finally talked to LG directly. They have confirmed that this is a known issue with not only the Venus but the Voyager also. They are working on a fix but no idea when it will be ready.

    • There are already things on the phone that take up some of the space thats why you don’t have the full 4 GB to put stuff on. Its the same with anything that has memory like a computer. The 4GB includes preprogrammed things and other pieces of hardware/software.

  • i LoVe mY VeNuS chhhheeea

  • I just received the LG Venus as a gift, and I am already used to the touch screen. Also, with the speaker on the back, you really cannot tell much of a difference and you do not have to sit it down screen first. With the camera though, it has a good 2.0 mega-pixel one, but it does not have a flash, which is a tad bit odd. Other than that one thing, the phone is great for everyone.

  • I have the Venus and I love it. I also handled the Voyager. Between the two phones I would definatly give my vote to the Venus. The voyager is big and the touch screen has prooven to die fast and is useless after awhile. But the Venus’s touch screen stands up much better. The venus is definatly a phone looking for a nice stylish phone for the person on the go.

  • I am not a fan of the Venus. I had the phone for 3 weeks and I had the following problems: When sliding the phone open it would not slide back flush. Using the keys for texting…the software would hang up and not space without being forced. I received a placement phone. The replacement phone had the SAME problems with texting. I just received my 2nd replacement phone. Went to program it and the #8 key doesn’t work. I have no phone now and need to go to the Verizon store.

    • I’ve had my phone for 3 weeks too!! and it just started not letting me put spaces in my texts. it freezes everytime i try. and it also randomly turns the writing orange, won’t save words i add with t9, freezes when i try adding a contact. did they figure anything out to help you??

      • The exact thing happened to me! The writing in texts turned orange and it would not auto-advance to the next letter. I got a replacement phone last night and while i was driving home, I saw that my replacement phone’s screen was upside down and backwards!!! It is still like that so now, i have to go back AGAIN tomorrow to get a THIRD VENUS….i love the phone, if i could get one that ACTUALLY worked…

        • Yeah my phone would freeze too. I figured out that it wouldn’t freeze though if when I was texting I put a space between every single letter. then I could go back and delete them all and it wouldn’t freeze. Weird much? And my mom wouldn’t let me get a new phone either so I had to deal with that for 6 months and I used to text constantly but now I pretty much hate it because of that dumb phone. I got a new phone today, finally. Thank God it isn’t a Venus.

        • go get an update at the verizon store:) I did that and mine works great now!!

      • the same is happening with my texting. when i use T9 and try to put a space the phone freezes every time and i have to take the battery out and put it back in. what did you do about it? did you send in for a new phone? and if so did you have to pay for it?

        • did you ever figure this one out?? this just happened to me like 10 minutes ago and every time i turn it off and try again it does the same thing. grrr!

        • I had the problem with the phone freezing. There is an update you can get on your phone for it, however I was not going to drive an hour and half for it so verizon sent me a new phone.
then that phone broke. It would not charge, I had to turn that one into the insurance company since it was not a phone defect. The replacement that they sent me, the 8 key does not work right.
I love the phone, but not the problems

      • it probably froze because ure memory was full 0 of apps or pictures! thats what happen to me – then i cleard the memory up and it didnt freeze when i texted anymore

        • This phone is HORRIBLE! I’m on my 3rd one since May. I’ve never actually had a phone break before, they always last through the 2 year Verizon deal, so I know it’s not that I’m taking care of it.

The first one would shut off every time I slid it close. I tried clearing the memory, taking out the battery, etc. Nothing worked.

The second one just quit working all together. The screen got completely screwed up. The top screen was showing on the touch screen and none of the number keys would work.

Now, my third one is starting to shit out just one month after getting it. The touch screen only works about half the time. I’ve tried resetting it, erasing the memory…Once again, it fails me.

GAH! I do not want to deal with getting a new phone every 3 months until my two year is up.

        • i’ve had the phone for 2 yrs. its horrible. i’ve replaced it 3 times. it brakes on its on. screen fall off. always freezes. and dont even get me started on how it always gets stuck in roamin moad so i dont recieve half my messages.

    • I have the venus I just bought it yesterday I love it..I have no problem spacing and I’m not sure what yu mean when you said it would not slide flush. Im really surprised that you had such a problem with 2 3 phones.

    • I have the venus I just bought it yesterday I love it..I have no problem spacing and I’m not sure what yu mean when you said it would not slide flush. Im really surprised that you had such a problem with 2 3 phones.

  • how could any of you hate the venus? it is da bessttt fone evr!

  • I have a Venus and I love it!!! But I do have one problem, the zoom on the camera doesn’t work. I took it to the Verizon store and the tech tried to update the software but it still didn’t work. We tried the Venus that was on display and guess what??? The zoom for the camera didn’t work on it either. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

    • I’ve had mine for over a month and it works but it doesn’t soom in very much or out that much but it does zoom enough to make a differnce in the picture, it is also very touchy when you are hitting the button to soom it takes a second or to to acturally zoom… sorry to hear you are having a problem… o there is a night mode since it doesnt have a flash that works pretty well also… Have a great day

    • Use the volume key thats what works for the zoom.

    • You probably have the resolution at the highest setting. Change it to a lower setting and the zoom will work fine

    • yeah, i had that problem

put i switched the size of the pic.

      then it worked.

    • Luann,

you have to change the resolution on the phone to one that isnt 1600×1200…go to 1280×960…u will be able to zooom then

  • the venus is that $h1t yo, up my way, niggas be havin voyagas and i thnik the effin suck yo, u feel me the venus is wassup

  • This is the WORST phone I have ever had! I’d really rather have my old nokia brick phone from back in the day than this phone! The screen bright and clear but thats where the quality stops. The camara is okay, IF you can wait the 2-3 seconds it takes to capture the image when you push the button. (or else you get a blurry image) Touch screen is not great but you can get use to it. But the battery life is the worst Ive ever had! If I dont charge it every night, I wont have a phone in the morning! None of my other phones have been like that. Also with this phone, about half my phone calls the ringer dosent go off, until the “missed call” tone goes off. And I know im not the only one with that problem. I LOVED LG phones until this one. BAD move LG!

    • You obviously did something wrong with your battery tj. I have had the phone since it came out in early december, i text with it maybe 30 times a day and i talk for maybe 20 minutes, and my battery still lasts me 2-4 days. Maybe you just kept it on the charger for too long

    • Everybody’d rather have an old brick phone.. don’t you all think so?

  • All phones have their glitches. There is no such thing as a perfect phone. I think the Venus is the closest you can get. The touch screen is great and I love the sliding feature. I don’t see why some of you guys don’t like it.

  • Man screw that the Venus is straight up sexy. It looks cool feels cool. and I add, NO PHONE is perfect. so HOP OFF.

  • Venus phone wont resolve pics when zoomed. Tried changing the setting and still digital garbage. I also think the functions are too slow. Maybe in another few years…

  • worst phone i have never had in my entire life. its may now and since the end of december when i originally got the phone i am on my fifth one. the phone just keeps freezing. i cant go through the menu, i cant send messages, i cant do anything on the phone without it freezing. its horrible and they said it was a batch of phones. thats BS i have gone through a phone a month due to the fact that it keeps freezing. worst phone ever horrible experience

  • this phone sucks i have had it for less than a month and i am having problems with texting and the screen scratches way too easily

  • i love this phone except for one thing.. the battery life sucks i find myself having to charge it daily

  • i have had my venus for about 2 months
The first one that i got, started freezing when i space using t9.
    Everytime.
I got a replacement phone and it does the same exact thing.
I dont know if i should try to get a different phone or not.
I mean i like the venus but it keeps messing up.

Any other phone that is really nice with good quality?

Will they send me another replacement for this manufactures defect?

  • I’ve never had a phone before but I’m about to get one. My friend has the Venus and I really like it. She loves it. I’m really leaning toward getting it. I really like the LG Rumor but thats Sprint and I want Verizon. I thought I liked the Glyde but I tried it at the store and it was not what I expected. I’ve read a lot of good things about the Venus but also a lot of bad. Should I get the Venus? Or does anyone have any other phones to suggest?

    • I have had a total of 6 Venus phones malfunction on me (since march) i am currently attempting a 7th and praying this one works out. I Love the phone and other than the problems i have had it has been wonderful i hope that this one will finally keep working. The LG Dare looks pretty awesome though.

  • THis phone is effin bogus..this is my 3rd phone and my 1,7,4,* doesnt even work anymore…Venus is GAYYYY

  • Buy and iphone and all troubles will be gone.

  • buy an iphone and all troubles will be gone.

  • It simply comes down to this… the Venus SUCKS!!!!!!! I have had to have a replacement 3 times because of the numbers not working, it cutting off on me, the battery power, etc. These things are EXACTLY why I or anyone else gets a cell phone in the first place. We won’t it to work and to last. The duribility of the phone is CRAP!!! It’s pretty sad when a phone that would be free (with activation) has a better lifespan than the Venus that costs hundreds of dollars.

  • I’m very surprised. Lots of negative reviews. I have it and have had it since it cam out. Love it. It works so perfectly for me. The phone isn’t meant to be really durable? If you a durable phone than get one set to be like that. This one is more for functionality and style. And the battery power has been tested to be longer lasting than the iPhone. When it comes down to it, the Venus is a wonderful phone.

    • I don’t get the complaint’s either, I’ve had my phone (THE ORIGINAL PHONE NOT A REPLACEMENT) since January…
I have great service I surf the net, text, take pictures, use it as a primary phone, have over 100 phone number stored in it play games all the time… It hasn’t broke once, the pictures are crisp… Heck I paniced when on memorial day when i accidentally got it wet and thought “O’ NO I RUINED IT,” nope dryed it out the rest of the day it works the same as always….
I’m even ashamed to say I have dropped it a few times… nothing happened to it When I bought it I bought the new body glove case and so it braces it from impact I guess…

My phone is fantastic, I use it way more than I should, I listen to music all day a work on it too. (I plug it in at my desk and have the Jaba bluetooth dog tag head set so I can be mobile and still have an ear open for calls…

This is the newest phone I’ve ever owned in my 10 years of cell phones, it is the most gadgety and the nicest. I’m glad I went a head a spoiled myself this is the best gift I ever gave myself and I couldn’t be happier.

So to all the complainers, BBBBbbbblllllllllllllllll………

    • I agree ive had this phone for a bit now and it works perfectly,
enough with the neg’s this phones the shiiit!

  • im on my 5th venus(three in four months), and goin today for my sixth, cuz of the whole t9 spacing issue. not realy sure if they’ve fixed that yet, but i love the phone other than that!

  • Im on my second replacement phone soon to be third. I do actually really like the phone if it wasn’t for the issues. It takes awesome pictures, sound comes out really well, holds lots of memory, love the half touch screen thing since i can actually get to things and not be screwed if the screen freezes. I have had the same problem with both phones. I got the first in November when the first came out and recieved the replacement in May. The phone when unlocked would bounce around to many different programs and and call random people. It would dial many number uncontrollable whether the keypad was opened or not. Basically it ran like a video game. If LG did a recall and fixed the quirks, this phone would be perfect.

  • i got my venus not too long ago and the same thing is happening with the texting, when i have it on word and try to put a space, it freezes. it really upsets me because i really like the venus and dont want to get another phone.

  • PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: STOP READING ABOUT THE VENUS, FORGET YOU EVER HEARD OF IT, AND-UNDER NO CONDITIONS- SHOULD YOU EVEN CONSIDER THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY ON IT!!!!
i never write reviews of any products that I buy, but this phone’s quality is so appalling that I have to. I have had numerous cell phones over the past 8 years, I am a total gadget freak and i love nothing more than a brand new sleak-looking high tech gadget. well, this phone has crushed my desire for advanced technology because it SUCKS! i have never had to replace a phone & kept all of mine for at least a year before buying a new one. i have had this since November, and have hated it since December. The touch screen freezes, it’s always smudgy and gross-looking, the camera doesn’t work, i can’t send texts. trust me, the allure of its sleak look dies after about 2 weeks.
just save yourself the time and energy, and avoid this phone- PLEASE.

    • I bought my phone in March of ‘08 and I’m almost up to a year with it. All I have to say is that I wouldn’t have chosen any other phone. Battery life is not that great for me.. Maybe cuz I’m constantly using it either for music, internet, Mobile Email, IM. Or maybe i’m leaving it charging for too long during the night. I’ve captured my son’s 1st steps with this phone, although I’m still trying to figure out how to get that vid out considering its over 30 seconds. Takes great!!! pictures.. when it was fresh out of the box, now its gotten to the point it doesn’t like the slightest movement(hard to catch my 2 yr old in action), especially background motion. Its all that I wanted in a phone. The first few months I kept the original screen protector on til it fell off then bought the $10 pack of 3 screen protectors…and still haven’t had to change that one yet. Anyways love the phone, have had to yank battery out a few times a month but its a phone and I’ve heard worse with others.

    • And I believe it is also durable …somewhat… I only keep it in its pouch that comes with it and my son has dropped it quite a few times… And i’m also thankful for the insurance, althoutgh I haven’t had to go that xtreme w/ it. $250 phone at the time I bought it. Always get the Insurance! SINCE READING ALL OF THE BAD REP ITS BEEN GETTING ON THESE REVIEWS, MAYBE “REFURBISHED” OR “FIXED” VENUS’ PHONES SHOULD JUST BE TOSSED, IT DOESN’T SOUND LIKE THERE EVER REALLY FIXED. WHO KNOWS MAYBE THEY NEVER DO FIX THEM. THEY JUST SEND THEM BACK OUT.

  • first off to anyone whose got a problem with the lg Venus …get used to it every new hardware, software always has a few glitches nothing new there. overall the lg Venus is a decent phone i personally have never had a problem with it, my reason for this post is to ask anyone…call me dumb but i cant seem to watch videos online ex.(youtube,Metacafe)do i need some sort of special software to view them or perhaps i need to contact my phone provider? if anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated thanx in advance

  • I am so happy that i found all of these reviews. My Venus does the same thing as everyone elses. This is my 2nd venus and i am so disappointed with it. I had my first one for 3 months…no problems. Then all of a sudden it would do the freezing thing when i would go to text. In order to text, i would have to make my messages onebiglongsentencelikethis. it got really annoying. so they sent me a refurbished phone. I have now had it for not even a month and it started doing the same thing again! Its so annoying to have your phone be totally fine and then have it screw up like this. It very upsetting and should be fixed. I think all the people who have had to deal with this should get new phones free of charge. its ridiculous to have to deal with the problems that this phone has given to everyone. I love my Venus and i wish it wouldnt do this. PLEASE FIX THIS STUPID PROBLEM!!!

  • when my 2 year plan was up i decided i wanted a phone better than all my friends envs and razors so i went to verizon and saw the venus i had to have it

now im not diggin it so much im on my second one in three months

the first one started freezing up when i texted the day after my waranty ended so my mom had to pay for a new one and also it has problems with saving words so that i dont have to do them letter by letter in t9

i love the env but it has some problems that need fixed

  • I just upgraded from a RZR to the Venus……huge change for me, i was surprised with the camera quality. I really enjoy easy to navigate menus with customizable shortcuts….i might sound a bit behind then some of you but anyone upgrading from a RZR and cant afford the voyager or any other touch screen phones…..then get the venus.

  • im getting the venus in 19 days and im so excited!, ive read hundreds of reviews on this phone and so ive read all the negitive ones on the texting, freezing, and zoom glitches, i had the chocolate and it did the same thing, so i got a replacment, then i broke that one…but anyway, all phones have glitches, thats just the way it works. so im not going to be furious if it glitches, i really want a phone for music and thats what im getting, plus i think its bringing the best of both world by combineing the chocolate and the voyager all in one. ive tried this phone out at the store for a while, and i really love it and am so excited to have one of my own :0)

  • I found mine on the floor, unlocked it, and now im just using it as a music player. So I have no complaints. Anyone got a cheap 4gb sd card?

  • !!!!!IF YOUR PHONE FREEZES – GO TO YOUR VERIZON STORE AND SEE IF THEY CAN CHANGE YOU SOFTWARE TO THE JANUARY 2008 version (that is 2 versions ago – from present August 2008 version)!!!!!

I Know what the issue is about the phone freezing.
I have read lots and lots of complaint about the system freezing in verious functions.

SOFTWARE = I bought the very chick/girly looking pink venus this past January – hadn’t had ANY issues with it, I Love it, It is perfect for me I have all the functions I need and some fun gadget stuff fabulous, and one item in my backpack or purse, PERFECT.

My husband convinced me to upgrade the software last week when we where at the store for his Voyager. I didn’t see the point the phone was working great and I wasn’t having any issues.
Yeah, last time I humor him about anything electronic. When it comes to something that is working use the old rule of thumb if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

NOW, I have to go back to the store and see if they can revert my phone back to the original factory setting software from January 2008. (You can’t upgrade the software anyware but the store.)

Now the poor thing, is freezing when I utilize the music play, or text messaging. I don’t know what they did but what ever it is the software is bunk… I hope they can go backwards with the software. If I have my phone number backed up so I am not worried about loosing anything. I am really frustrated they didn’t check the software out batter, disappointing, but hopefully fixable.

  • I love this phone! I have always thought of LG being on of the best phone companies.. however the ONLY problem with the venus us the chrome on the sides is chipping off.. and my dealer has said they cant do anything about it since its physical damaage.. but i haven’t dropped it or anything it just chips.. it starts with the clear coat then after the clear coat chips off the chrome goes so now its a mess of chrome and white plastic..
(I have a little case that i put it in, but im thinking of buying a plastic case instead of a little pouch that came with the phone)

    Anyone else have this problem?

  • The ear piece speaker on mine crackles and breaks up like crazy, anyone else have this problem?

  • I have the venus for about less then a month and my touch screen is not working at all now…… Anyone know how to reset it??

  • I love my venus, but the silver paint on the side is chipping off, what do i do?

  • I have the venus and everything was going good for about a month except now every time I try to text the phone freezes for like 5 minutes and then it will automatically reset itself. Also people I talked to will occasionally say I sound like I’m talking on the phone from the other side of the room and have to recall them to fix it.

The shiny silver around the face is also peeling off like crazy too but I don’t really care about that.

  • I’ve had my Venus since it was first released, and I’ve never once had any of the problems that are described above. I can text without issue, I’ve never once had to reset anything, my battery lasts for at least a week, calls sound fine both incoming and outgoing, and my camera takes fine pictures. I’ve never tried anything larger than a 2GB microSD card in it, so I can’t comment on the 8GB issue.

The only problem I’ve had with mine at all is that the chrome trim around the slider is quickly chipping off – just like in the post above. I know it’s just normal wear/tear, and I’m not one to concern myself with aesthetics, but right now it’s kind of annoying. The plastic underneath the chrome is a soft grey, and once it all chips off, it will look just fine.

I got a screen protector from Invisible Shield soon after I got the phone, and so my screen is completely free from scratches. It hasn’t affected my use of the touchscreen at all, either.

  • I got my Venus a couple months ago, and overall, I love the phone. My only complaint is the chipping of the silver finish, which seems to be a common problem. It’s a shame because it makes the phone look much older than it really is. I have never dropped or mishandled my phone in any way. I keep it in the padded case that it came with at all times. I like my things to look nice, so I find this especially frustrating. Once the chipping gets more excessive, I suppose a cover could be purchased for the phone. Other than that, it’s a really hot phone.

  • I bought the phone about 2 weeks ago. I like it because I just wanted a new phone with some features that I may or may not use (music and video). I think it looks slick and who cares about the name of your phone (maybe the same people that care about the name of their avatar or something). The touch pad is a little slow but it gets you were you need to be. It isn’t too big in the pocket and the Word function works well, unless you email all the time I think it is faster then Qwerty. The slid feature seems to be holding up and you don’t have to slide up and down the phone all the time to answer or end a call. Good phone with minimal flashy extras. If you need to get on the internet just take a breath and wait till you get home, or buy a Blackberry

  • I’m think of getting a pink LG Venus. I want some opinions of if I should get this phone. I will be using the texting, camera, video, MP3, internet, and like every other feature on that. Is this a good phone? Or bad?

  • this is a really good phone. i have no problems with the crome and nothing with the camara but as soon as i updated the soft ware it will start freezing when i send a message and it isnt just when i use word. i was changing my banner on ABC and it forze.. does anyone know what is worng??

  • my shit FREEZES and goes UPSIDE DOWN. my phone is on meth

  • This is my 3rd Venus phone. The first two screens cracked very easily. I’ve had this one for about 6 or 7 months and about 2 or 3 months ago my 0852 numbers stopped working. What would help is turning my phone off, letting it restart and giving it a break for 5 or 10 minutes. Recently within the last month however, my phone’s #963 and up volume bottoms are basically dead. After an hour or so the phone would work but now in this most recent occurrence, the problem has been going on for a day or two. Can anyone help me with this problem?

  • I’m also surprised about the level of negative feedback regarding the LG Venus. I love mine, and being a web developer it’s on natural that I made a small fan site about it. I’ve had zero issues, and I love the look and feel of the Venus. Albeit, it’s not the greatest phone ever, I still think it doesn’t deserve the amount of grief some of you are giving it. Anyways, check out my fan site if you want: http://www.lgvenus.org
