I totally agree with this assessment. The Zune has great potential of being more than it is.

@Al
Actually, I think I know what the author is referring to when he says you can't go back to the now playing screen. I tried it on my Zune and he'd right. If you go to view a picture, you can't tell the Zune to go to the next song unless you get out of the picture menu and go to the Music Menu and wait a few seconds. What if I am listening to a playlist, go to view some pictures, and then hear a song I don't want to hear. Currently there is no way to skip a song while viewing photos w/o stopping to view those photos.

I see no problem with the Zune becoming more like the iPod, but I don't think that should be the goal of the Zune. Its goal should be to become something more than the iPod. And I think this article touches on this goal. The advice about a Zune should have a sideshow feature is definitely not rooted in iPod-envy.

Anyway, great list of suggestions. I hope Microsoft implements at least a third of them.

the zune can already return to the now playing screen. just go to the main menu and press back button.
And what the f***? you want zune to literally become the ipod. hell no, that is what is good about zune, it is different. besides i dont think that many people need to change the main menu.
this article has some good points, but the rest is completely crap( literally wanting the ipod).
