Sirius radio streaming on BlackBerries

My recent switch to a BlackBerry has me compulsively looking for mods and everything cool for my 8320 and this may or may not be newsworthy or even new to some of you, but it’s Sunday and some of you may be bored. I haven’t tried this yet, so I can’t vouch for it, but my Curve does have Wi-Fi and I’ll be testing this out shortly.

A recent tutorial on BlackBerry Forums reveals that you, CrackBerry users, can stream Sirius or XM to your BB. The thread starter tried this on a Verizon Pearl and found the original tutorial for the LG Voyager on Howard Forums. There are currently very few commenters so I’m not sure which devices it can or will work on. Being the intrepid bunch that you are, I will assume some of you will try out and leave some feedback. Enjoy your Sunday, folks.

  • I have a bb pearl 8130 (Sprint) I have downloaded orb & usirius & set them up, However i cant get it on my phone. I have looked thrue many Forums but they are vague. Trying to get a step by step tuturial since i have had no success, Do know of any forums that explains exactly how to do it.

Any info will be helpfull – Thanks

    • 1. Download/install Orb to your desktop computer.

      2. Download/install uSirius to your desktop

      3. Configure both to normal settings

      4. In uSirius, copy the supplied channel URL (click the URL button then select the channel you want, then copy to clipboard).

      5. On your desktop, go to Orb, then go to the “Audio page” and make sure you are in the internet radio area.

      6. Paste the URL and channel name you copied from uSirius into “Add Custom” under the “my Favorate internet radio.” Then orb will know where to look for the sirius feed.

Note: You need to repete this step for every sirius channel you want.

      7. On your blackberry browser go to mycast.orb.com
Log in and go to favorate internet radio links and click the feed/channel you want to listen to. Remember, uSirius needs to be running on your desktop.

      8. hope this helps

      • After I complete the above instructions, and log into Orb with my blackberry browser and try to play a Favorite Internet Radio link I set up from Sirius I get an error on the blackberry saying “The Item you selected cannot be displayed. Do you wish to save the item? Yes/No”. I click No and it then says “Unsupported media type: application/sdp”. Any idea what’s going on?

  • Great ! I have it working.

    Thanks for your help !

  • check to see if you have your bb set to .3g.sdp in orb?

  • Did anyone ever get this working for a Curve? I have an 8310 and cannot getting working. I was able to get it to work on my HTC 8525, so I know it’s set up right.

So far, I only see people have BB success with the Pearl.

  • I need to know if anyone with an 8800 series has it working…

  • I have tried Orb on my blackberry curve so that I can stream Sirius radio but can not get it to open ANY type of media. I have it set on 3gp .sdp format but it’s still not working. Anyone know any tricks?

  • Dumb questions – does my pc need to up and running at home when I’m on the road for this to work on BBerry? I travel all the time so am looking for a way to run Sirius on blackberry but laptop is usually with me, in a case!

  • 3g sdp is the setting undering streaming options. I had to have it set on my Sprint BB to get it to play. The only problem now is that I can’t get my BB to download the sdp file because I am using Opera Mini to do this and not BB internet service. F!

  • I got orb and the usirius going. Now I’m getting an error unsupported formatt do I need to Dl something else or does blackberry 8110 dont do this?

    • Hey guys
I had same problem with orb not playing on browser it would go back to my favorites and not play and i got the unnsupported file format..i put in the url from u sirius in orb “as is” i didnt substistute
the “my ip” per instructions I have bb curve 8330
on us cellular. music stations seem to suck with every 5 seconds buffering…however howard works great occasional buffering minimal

  • Got evrything installed but it says I don’t have the correct codecs.

  • Got evrything installed but it says I don’t have the correct codecs.I have a 8330

  • Just want to update everyone. This works perfectly on the Bold. It did not work on my curve at all. However for some reason I am listening to Howard 100 (Based upon the URL usirius gave me) and I don’t think this is the right station.

  • HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT SIRIUS TO WORK ON THEIR BLACKBERRY CURVE?? I want to listen to Howard.

If yes can you please post how you did it here. Thanks!

  • so i have been able to listen to talk radio on sirius without interruption but the music channels are not working well.

    I’m using BB Pearl 8130

  • i have voyager lg it says it will work on mine i tried it i have trouble getting it work also i changed my settings and front screen changed i need help please

  • Can anyone elaborate on these steps:

    5. On your desktop, go to Orb, then go to the “Audio page” and make sure you are in the internet radio area.

    6. Paste the URL and channel name you copied from uSirius into “Add Custom” under the “my Favorate internet radio.” Then orb will know where to look for the sirius feed.

On the desktop application there is no “Audio Page”, only TV/Media/Advanced/Users…none of which have the option to add a ‘copied-from-clipboard’ link. If it’s the website mycast.orb.com it’s talking about, once you go to Audio > Internet channels you can choose the 3GP format there, but nothing about pasting a URL.

Am I a moron or is anyone else having this issue too?

  • I’m trying to stream the sirius player on my blackberry curve 8330,sprint

  • You’re getting close, i know you can figure it out.
    Go Cards.
