Sweet Apple donates Nanos to wildfire-stricken kiddies

Those poor desert-dwellers in the Golden State could have used the floods we’ve been having recently in Washington. But every choking, black cloud of smoke has a silver lining: 100 youngsters whose homes and belongings were torched by the rampant flames have been given iPod Nanos free of charge by Apple. A local guy e-mailed Steve Jobs and ended up in contact with Foulkes, another higher-up dude, who hoped to get an iPod in the hands of every high schooler in the county who lost a home to the fires. Maybe flood victims up here will get some Zunes.

How will they sync them with iTunes with no computer? They should have thrown in some MacBooks to sweeten the deal.

That wasn’t a serious comment, but you do have to wonder. These kids will probably end up ‘borrowing’ music from their friends’ iTunes libraries. Don’t tell the RIAA.

What a great idea. They can use their good old computers to transfer music to them just in time to…wait, what’s that? If their home went, their computer probably went with it? They have no way of getting music onto their new iPods? Oh…huh…well I’ll be damned.
Seriously though, its a nice gesture. Maybe with the housing market being how it is, people will start lending homes or something, I don’t know.
