Apple has been gaining marketshare for the Macintosh at a steady clip, and researchers at ChangeWave don’t see it stopping. In fact, the market-guaging firm says that Apple’s marketshare is set to grow even faster in the next few months, with holiday sales this year really helping.

I can see this in the real world, actually. Last year, a good friend of mine got her first mac, a Mac Mini, for Xmas. This year, I know at least three PC users who are asking Santa for help in making the switch.

Computers are expensive, but many of you out there are going to get one under the tree, and chances seem good you’re not getting a Dell. Dude.

  • Yea, thats it, just because your 2-3 loser friends are telling you they PLAN on buying (or asking as you say)for a new mac that must mean the Whole Windows Empire is gonna crumble to there knees. Give me a break, Macs are expensive (to the average person (Joe Somebody)), also most people who have no computer knowlege that buy macs usually reget it because the popular apps most people use are not available. Example, a friend tells a new mac owner with no experience, hey download so ‘n so program and the person would panic and say its not installing, yada yada yada. The Mac take over might happen eventually but at the moment they would be just happy to break the 15% marketplace. Its kind of sad to say that having 15% would be an achievement. Microsoft gets too many haters out there because people love to see success fall. Just so you are aware, the latest version of the Mac OS has as many bugs and problems as Vista. As Technology advances its becoming clear that the current format of the modern OS is needing a complete overhaul.

  • Hey Bro
I do 2-3 times your salary!

  • I don’t see the “windows crumbling” part…?

  • 2playedout… you sound threatened? Why?

A $1000 MacBook is hardly expensive, and thats not counting the wicked student discount and freebies Apple gives away to college students. It’s an extremely smart market strategy as they are building the next generation of consumers and brand loyalists.

I think were starting to see more diversification in the market as well with Linux PCs being sold at Walmart, etc.

It’s all about growth. Windows will always be the Goliath in desktop computing, but that growth is not sustainable.
