CompUSA is dead. The chain will remain open during the holidays, offering nice discounts to vultures like you and me, but has been bought by Gordon Brothers and will be sold off piece by piece.
Dallas-based CompUSA said on Friday that active discussions are underway to sell its technical services business, CompUSA TechPro, its online sales operation, CompUSA.com, and select stores in key markets.
The chain’s 103 retail stores will remain open and staffed during the holiday season, offering discounts on computer and electronics ahead of the planned store closures.

The best thing that ever happened…they will rip you off on the rebates…
Hell, they’ll rip you off without the rebates. You’ll notice their ads are like 30% off or so but a lot of those prices are still pretty much normal for the market… and some things still entirely too high for any market.
I wanted to buy a Converter box that was supposed to be .01 cents after the $40.00 coupon was used from COMP USA online. But after I entered the coupon information and found out how much shipping and handling plus tax was I decided to cancel the order.
I went to a local store and found a better converter for 5.00 less and tried to purchase it but was told my card was no good.
I come to find out that COMP USA invalidated my coupon and now I cannot use it.
I called them a week later and was told they could reinitiate the card but a week later the card was still not good.
I called COMP USA again and was now told that the card was not going to be reinitiated and I decided to try to get the same converter box and was now told that is was $5.00 more than the one I was originally going to buy.
So I am now without a converter and they say the manufacturer will get the $40.00 ( not COMP USA) and I cannot use the $40.00 coupon. Can anyone help me report this to the appropriate parties as this is a pure rip off.
