Fret not, dear reader. Sprint assures us that the unusual battery drainage is not a hardware issue, but that of a software one centered around Sprint’s Mobile Email. Said software and e-mail synchronization go through a never-ending loop when your password is incorrect or the ISP’s e-mail server is unavailable. The OTA update is said to be released sometime this month. Has anyone experienced this with their Centro? Has the patch already been sent out?
Update: Looks like the update was pushed out on the 4th.
Palm Centro Battery Drain Issues [Sprint]

This happend to me… as soon as I stoped using the sprint mail my battery life was back.
No I dont think the update happend yet…. but I dont know how I could tell if it did anyway.
Yea I used my email on my centro for the first time today and the battery was dead before i got home from work :(
I’m on my second dead palm centro in 45 days! I don’t use internet at all. Both phones battery died over a 3 day weekend with no charge. They were off all 3 days . When I got home, I charged them all night. The battery won’t hold a charge and with a new battery or the charger the phones will not turn on! These phone were not dropped, wet or any other abuse you can imagine. I turn them off to save all weekend to save battery for the drive home. WTF
I am now on my FIFTH Centro. I have charged the battery diligently and when I unplugged the charger to use the phone, nothing happened. The phone will not turn on, completely black. Each time this has happened and each time Sprint has replaced my phone (fortunately, I purchased the insurance). I was out of town and the Sprint tech replaced my phone and then handed me 6 batteries and said, “good luck” as I left the store. It’s been a month and now I am again with a dead phone. I am so frustrated. I do not use e-mail, but do use text. My clients are having a tough time getting a hold of me when I’m not in the office. Right now, I am trying to charge one of the other batteries given to me, but it does not take a charge and “beeps” every 5 minutes. I can use the phone while it’s plugged in but there is no charge if I unplug it. Help!
I don’t know wtf is going on with my Centro. I have had it for at least six months, and love it, but in the last few days, the battery won’t hold a charge. Anyone have any suggestions??
My Centro was fine. I got it about 5 months ago. Then a few weeks ago it went onto HotSync. It wouldnt turn off, it wouldnt charge and there was nothing i could do. The only way to turn it off was to take the battery out and once i did that it wouldnt go back on. So Palm sent me a new phone, and now this phone will not fully charge or nothing. I dont want to have to be sent another phone its a pain!…HELP PLEASE
Like several above, my Centro just recently developed battery problems. Have had it for 5+ months, finally hot synched it again after 5 months, and the bloody thing is draining power out in a few hours. This thing used to last a few days, and now it won’t last an afternoon. Any ideas, comments, similar issues? Thanks.
