After the fallout between NBC and Apple earlier this year, I wondered what was going to happen with NBC’s bevy of hot content. You can’t tell me Chuck, Heroes, The Office and Life aren’t good shows. I like to torrent said shows on occasion if I miss an episode, but that becomes tedious at times and a pain in the butt if I download the wrong one. Yes, I know that I can watch them online, but I hate the ads. Right. Back to the topic at hand. NBC has announced they’re jumping into SanDisk’s Fanfare service that launches next month. You remember Fanfare and TakeTV, right? Not sure how I feel about this, but we’ll see if it takes off.

Yay! SanDisk is bringing back SneakerNet! Next up? Transfer music and videos to your portable player via wires — no more pesky wireless!
Seriously, I can’t believe NBC is so shortsighted and technologically backwards that they would back this utterly ridiculous platform. I have a lot of respect for SanDisk, but this whole TakeTV thing is eroding that a bit.
And it looks like the TV studios are even less tech savvy than the major record labels…
I wish more companies were like NBC or Universal and abandon iTunes, being a Linux user it is impossible for me to buy or use DRMed content bought on iTunes.
The NBC content has been available on Zune Marketplace for quite some time now. I am happy to see another player get in on the action as well.
