But if you’re looking for the all iPod Touch experience, then go for the Touch for sure.
I just bought one for $60 Australian. Sure it might not be quite as good as the touch but it’s almost 1 tenth of the price, and about 70% as good (Functionality wise).

Though if i did have the money i’d spend it on an ipod touch, if not, then something from Samsung

i have one of these, its actually fairly easy to use, only downsides:
1.the volume is hard to adjust
2. the random feature doesnt work when you hit the next track button but it does when it naturallu goes to the next track
3.video codecs a little weird
thats really about it i guess
the advantages are:
-better touch than you’d figure
-decent prtable camera/dv camera
-does ebooks well
-you could always save a picture of a map, and presto, you got a map.
-8gb for 50$ thats like a quarter of the ipod
-not evil corporate bullshit

I own an Iphone and cheap itouch immitations. They are very useful. I don’t have to worry about them being stolen. If they get wet I don’t lose much money, they play music clearly and the battery life is much better than that of my iphone. Sometimes I carry both.
I like the way the cheap one works as a mass storage device and does not require syncing. Drag and drop. A simple and easy to use option. Both have their advantages.

Call me an apple fanboy, but honestly, that nonsense has an interface barely resembling or as reponsive as the 3.0, just less thick than two itouch stacked, fuck ugly, and I’m questioning the user interface when it comes to uploading music.
Oh, as well as apps. and wifi. But at least it has radio~.
Either way, for the budget conscious, I’d recommend the samsungs. Even those without touch. Because at least its a reliable device that you’d won’t have to holler at a bunch of nothings over customer service when your cheap toy fucks up.
i’m not a fan of apple by any means, they are riduculously overpriced for something that is basically a pc running a linux unix parallel; i do have to say that the capabilities of the ipod touch are truly astounding once they are jailbroken, being able to download youtube videos and most anything else is great. i use mine all the time, media monkey is much better for managing the music than itunes. if you want the most capabilities, buy ipod from apple; if you want just an mp3 or video player, buy something cheaper (samsung recommended)
