21741-1156895272151-200_150.JPGI recently gave you a primer on the Palm operating system for smartphones, and John lamented the possibly pending passing of palm, and now Palm itself speaks up with news for us.

Or at least Palm’s CEO, Ed Colligan, who’s promising investors that Palm’s on a course to turn around in the near future. Saying that it’s streamlined its operations (read: layoffs) and focused on future products (read: Centros, Treos), he’s confident that Palm can turn it around.

We’re hoping so. Palm’s a watershed company, and if it does have to shutter, the ripples will be felt throughout the Valley for awhile yet.

  • I hate to repeat myself, but Palm really should get out of the OS game, just adopt Android, tweak it to hell (perhaps), and concentrate on what they did SO well with the evolution of the PDA in the late 90’s: Great UI, effortless HotSync, right Form factor, great Look-n-Feel, and actively supporting the 3rd party developer community.
