“Mortal Kombat” teens fatality 7-year-old

mkt_brutality.pngTwo Colorado teens have been charged in the murder of a 7-year-old girl. According to a witness, Lamar Roberts, 17, and Heather Trujillo, 16, were reportedly imitating moves from “Mortal Kombat” on the victim. The teens were babysitting the child, Trujillo’s half-sister Zoe, while her mother was at work.

Zoe is said to have told the teens to stop before losing consciousness after being punched, kicked and body-slammed. The teens attempted to revive Zoe by running water on her and “attempting CPR” before calling 911. Zoe died at the hospital. An autopsy revealed a broken wrist, heavy bruising, swilling of the brain and internal bleeding along the neck and spine.

When asked why they didn’t stop when Zoe asked Roberts responded, “I don’t know, I was drunk.” They’re facing up to 48 years in prison.

Shouldn’t the title of this article be “Teens charged in ‘I’m a friggin’, drunk idiot’ killing”? This has much more to do with teens being drunk while babysitting than it does with Mortal Combat, but it’s cool to pick on video games.

You’re right. My post is meant to be semi-ironic with that point.

This is a truly sad story. What makes it worse is the childish manner in which the post is delivered by Blake Robinson. This article has nothing to do with the content normally seen on CrunchGear and including a tacky Mortal Kombat “Brutality” image is fairly tasteless and classless.

Shame on you Blake. Time to grow up.

Oh damn. The image doesn’t trivialize anything. It’s there to give people an impression of the game.

And regarding Bryan Hughes above comment, I have to disagree. CrunchGear frequently covers gaming related topics and I don’t feel there was anything wrong with my delivery.

At any rate, I’m in complete agreement that this is tragic, which is why I posted about it.

Seriously…?..?…WTF?

Even though it was more than half my life ago - there’s no way I was any where near as stupid as these kids at 16 and 17…even at my drunkest/highest/whateverest. Was I?

Jack Thompson just came on himself - nothing good can come of this - more parents will call for banning violent games and the media will side with them in light of this. Why can’t someone imitate Mario and jump on someone’s head instead of it being a fighting or shooting game?

So so sad. The only sliver of silver lining here, if there is one, is even in prison there are codes of conduct when it comes to kids…one of which they just broke. 48 years or 48 months, when the word gets around, it won’t matter how long they’re in for; they won’t be staying much longer. Use your imagination…

Seriously what the hell, this image used in this article trivializes the entire thing. Disgusting. Grow a brain.

Yeah “kids” these days are idiots! Two of my own brothers included. One is 21 and the other is 20. Both are jack asses. Their whole life is video games.

They get so up set when they loose as if their going to die. They break stuff, curse, and just act like morons.

I some times find myself wishing they would just jump off a cliff already if they think life sucks so bad.
