You're omitting one more smartphone OS, available in the US (although not terribly numerous here, I'll admit): the Symbian OS. I got it when I signed on with T-Mobile four years ago with a Nokia 3650, and like it enough that I bought a Nokia E70 on Ebay last year. It's not the fastest OS, but oh does it do smartphone stuff! Hugely capable, with lots of programs available. (I didn't pay anything for my Google Maps...)

Check out (among many other sites, none of which I have any stake in):

The iPhone is indeed lacking many of those smartphone features, but it's still a stretch not to include it. True: No Office integration, no wireless sync, no cut and paste, and no third party applications until next year.

But I think the superior web experience to any other phone more than makes up for these shortcomings. If you do most of your work on the web, it's a smartphone, since third parties have customized their web sites to work as applications. No other smartphone has a good enough web browser for this to be the case.

Incidentally, Blackberry doesn't support creating or editing Office documents out of the box, either, so really it doesn't qualify. If you keep in Blackberry, for the sake of completeness I really think you need to include iPhone.

A very loyal iPhone owner!

Honestly, the iPhone really should be included here. It matches a lot of the specs above and it's too revolutionary to be ignored.

thanks for this; i've been delaying getting one (i'm one of those who thinks she doesn't 'need' it) but now my work and personal needs are starting to converge. i'm still balking at pricing one out and doing all the research for what my needs are, but this is a good start.
