Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi Winner

superfi4vi.jpg
As promised on Friday, today is the day to announce the winner of those Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi iPhone headphones. The contest was a reader response deal where the comment that tickled us the most over the weekend would win the earbuds.

After much deliberation, the CG staff has decided upon one comment for its humor and ballsyness. The winner is JJ, for this response to a woman looking to trade a Wii for a new set of boobs:

At first this surprised me…then she said she had a truck. Then I said…I get it.
NOW GIVE ME MY DAMN FREE EARBUDS!

Congratulations, JJ. You’ve won your damn earbuds. I’ll be in touch soon to get your contact info.

Everyone say thanks to Ultimate Ears for graciously donating gear to our cause.

hey thats bullocks.
It clearly stated in the rules for the contest that you had to leave an email for contact purposes.
So he wasn’t following the ruels. Therefore he should have been disqualified. What kind of treachery is this Crunchgear?!?!?

Well, I think they’re talking more about shipping address, but I do think that the judging was a bit off. I thought the point was to increase quality comments on the site, but apparently posting hotlinks to the same article and demanding product is what they were looking for.

Honestly, I shouldn’t complain, though. It’s a free contest and they can do with it whatever they wish. Thanks for the opportunity, CG.

Hey left an email address, it just want’s public. We can see it on the back-end though, which is all that matters.

Well if he did indeed leave an email address then why did CG have to “get in touch to get your contact info”
Either the article is wrongly worded, as I’ve found many of your articles to be, or your lying.

On the contrary my article was worded precisely. By “getting in touch,” I simply meant that I would email the winner to get mailing information to ship the prize. Clearly our requirement to have entrants leave email addresses was so that we could “get in touch” with the person who won.

That said, your assertion is ridiculous. Read more carefully in the future and make an effort to develop a better understanding of the things you feel compelled to accuse people of.

Thanks for reading, participating, etc.

No it was not ridiculous.
From what I read and reread from disbelief it was not clear in its stated purpose.
I asked the following questions to myself to clear some of my thought up:
—>Why would he state that he is going to get in touch with him to get his contact info?
My answer: because he needed to tell the reader that he didn’t have his info
—>But if that was so, then how could he have won the contest?
He couldn’t have, there must have been a mistake at CG HQ
–>CG messes up?
Well yes, I’ve seen it before in my readings before (nearly a year of them)
—>Well in the off chance, what would the other thought train look like,
this: (pointless) stating of getting in touch for contact info—> getting in contact with said reader—> Said writer of blog defending himself from accusatory comments about the correctness and fairness of the contest—>Said writer of blog losing his argument to said accuser for providing several facts:
1. The statement of, “…in touch soon to get your contact info.” clearly defines a lack of contact info.
2. The statement, “in touch soon to get your contact info” also clearly states that there is indeed a way to contact the said winner, which is contradicting of fact 1.
3. The majority of people say things in 2 ways, they either simply say the right thing the first time, or they say the wrong thing the firs time, and then realize their mistake and correct themselves. Therefore it is likely that it was NOT possible to get in contact with the said winner.
4. Getting contact info is not the same as getting shipping info.

So have I been clear enough in stating just how very unclear you were in your post?
Any thoughts or further comments?

Just in case there are any other doubts, I did in fact leave my email address behind what you see on the blog. It’s in a field called “Mail (will not be published)” which I’m sure you see every time you post a comment. Get it? (will not be published) means it won’t be published. In Spanish that translates to “Will noto beo publishedo.” You should enter the next contest where CrunchGear gives away Crack.

So in fact, Blake is correct. His comments were based on emailing me to get my mailing address…since it’s hard to deliver earbuds over email. Which by the way, I eagerly await Blake’s contact, to send me new rockin earbuds.

I would first like to thank the Academy and all my loyal fans. To those of you that thought I shouldn’t deserve it, you are probably right, but extreme circumstances call for extreme measures.

It was through drive, motivation and a chick that wants fake boobs that made this all possible.
