Ok, this rumor is a little odd, but I’ve gotten a few pings on it, so we’re going to try to put it together. Apple recently hosted a holiday party, likely a company party like most companies do. Apple invited a best-selling iTunes artist to perform, because Apple can do that. The artist (or artists) were then each promised that, beyond being paid, they’d each be receiving a new Apple laptop that is to be announced at Macworld in January.

I’m having a hard time pinning down who played, but this does mean, if true, that we are getting new laptops at Macworld, and since they’re giving them away as gifts in Cupertino, they’re likely the inexpensive sub-notebooks we’ve been hearing about. We hope so.

Now be nice and remind everyone that the “notebook” pictured above is one of the old “eMate” adaptions of the Newton, and not the actual new notebook we’ve been hearing all these rumors about.

Nice…time to check the mac rumor sites!

We had a whole rack of those at my junior high school. We only used them like once because we figured out how to message each other, but we didn’t realize the teacher was monitoring the messages. “Fat bitch” was apparently not approved classroom chatter.

Hey Matt,

Q: Can you tell me if you requested permission to use THIS photo?

I would have declined it’s use since this is not my personal photo to grant permission of. I worked HARD to collect photos of Newton related items which are rare when I’m unable to acquire them directly. It is one of two Clear Case eMate 300 Prototypes that I’m aware of personally. The other being in my possession.

Q: Did you ask the owner of the photograph?

If you did you should have noted that in your post. So provide me proof of that being that you took it from my Flickr photostream please.

Q: Can you please REMOVE this photo OR CREDIT it properly in your post?

I’m not a PITA about things usually but I see plagiarism all too often at the university in our department. I do not want to condone nor promote it.
People should know who’s photo this is and where it came from. Be aware also that I believe this is also stated in the User Contract with Flickr which requires a link back to Flickr if a photo is being used. IIRC

Contact me directly through Flickr or by commenting to this reply.

Sincerely,

Sonny T. Hung

Hey John,

You don’t have a great track record nor do you have great attitude to the issue of copyright infringement as clearly stated here: http://flickr.com/photos/stevegarfield/2140708035/

Sincerely,

Sonny T. Hung
