The LG Rumor for Sprint appears to have major issues. Big time problems. A debugging menu has been found on the device that triggers a complete wipe of the phone including its firmware. For the time being, Sprint has halted all shipments of the Rumor pending LG’s firmware update that will remove the code to access the debugging menu. The specific details on how to access the menu are unknown, so I suggest you put it under your couch cushions until the update. Heh. Current Rumor owners will have to wait for an OTA while prospects looking to pick one up should wait till the firmware has been updated.

I know how yo can get a brand new rumor for free just call the lg usa and tell them about it they will give an adreess so write it down go to a post ofice buy a cheap little paper/buble rap packing write all your phone number down cuss they will be lost then wait 2 weeks hers your new one if somthing happends agin do it again they dont care long ass ther custermers are satified thats what i did cuss sprint told me it would cost 330 dollsrs to replace mine
I sent my phone to lg to get repaired and i just got it back after a month. There customer service sucks every person told me my phone was in shipping waiting to be shipped for 2 weeks. I will never buy a lg product again in fear of having to get it fixed under wanrranty!

well, it did until some mysterious key combination killed it - now it looks like pure seething hatred. As I’m typing this I’m on hold with Sprint’s tech division - I thought the technician was joking when she told me that my brand new phone would never work again. I’ve already discovered that there is a $50 deductible should I try to replace the phone through the insurance program they offer. I still have no idea how this happened, but I am hoping that Sprint is going to make this right.
i want this phone but they told me that there was problems and it was recalled but i still do want this phone because my phone is junkk and i really want the keyboard that this phone has but since it has problems idk if i shoudl still get it and hope that they corrected all the problems because i dont want it if im going to loose the phone and all my contacts and it breaks
yes get it my last rumor had problems but all i did is take it back to sprint since ther was no physical damage they could of said i did enythinh do that saved me and know thehy replaced it and get white looks really sleek i had it know for 3 months havent had a single problem as we know the koreans are gonna replace ther stuff because wen i calld the guy said at lg said we r gonna ship u a box and place your phone in there and well ship u out a brandnew on under warrty so that was an option to u know
is anyone else having problems with their call history not working? it seems to be auto erasing, I am not able to retrieve my recent calls nor any missed calls.
Hey I had the same problem with my call history. There was a problem with some of the numbers that the phone uses to identify itself and store and retrieve things like recent calls and voicemail.
I called sprint customer service and spoke with a technician. She gave me a code to input into my phone which allowed me to change some of the numbers I mentioned above. After I set that right, my call history and voicemail started working. Give this a try; it is fast, easy and free.

Using most electrical devices while in shower will destroy them, unless they are designed for water use. A vast majority of cellphones are NOT. I doubt your warranty will cover shower play.
Coincidently, General Electric will not cover damages due to toasters that are used in the bathtub. >D
the setting on your phone its doing that i called lg and they helped me with that i had the same problem if its messed up they will replace it free of charge for a free rumor of your chice and colar i had a white one now i have black and blue most of my friends dont lke the black and blue but ye just call lg they will be able to help you

that happened to me once…like a week after i got my phone. 9 months later (today) BAM! i installed the firmware that was supposed to fix this issue, which made my phone which was checked by sprint to be clean of the bug, the new firmware killed it.

has anyone else had problems with the screen pixelating? my screen is turing things green and putting weird lines across the screen when it’s closed (keyboard inside) but not when it’s open (keyboard out). any ideas?
I have same problem,the screen has lines of different colors and a curved blank spot through half the screen. I sent the phone back to lg (phone only 1 month old) they said i droped the causing this problem(not true) they admited the phone has no external damage but still want 75 dollars to repair.Has anyone else had this problem? please post
I have this exact problem. My screen has the funny lines and I did not drop it. I am taking mine back to Radio Shack, where I bought it.
yes when my phone came out the box i had the same issue but everytime i would send a tex message next to the check sighn that appears wen your sending ita line in the shape of hair would appear in my scren

my screen is turning white with lines it works both way but when u open it whenits not white it goes white and stays lik tht 4 a while then goes back 2 a normal screen
yes. this is impossible to fix. take it to a sprint store which contains a MAITENENCE center. if you do not know what that is, just call around at sprints near you asking which sprint has one. take it to the store, tell them that your phone has the V6 screen freeze problem and ask them if they will transfer your contacts onto a new phone. (they have a machine that does this) this will be a free exchange, because it is a problem where the screen band in your phone wore out from opening and closing the slide so much. its not your problem.

After reading all the problems all of you had, I would say mine is the worst! I got the black RUMOR day one it came out at 10 am! Yes, I was obsessed with this phone because the one I had before had gotten ruined by some rude people! Anyways, I started a new contract since I coudnt get a new phone. Day one was great even tho my picture messaging didnt work! Day two was ok yet picture messaging still didnt work and I was recieving my messages late! Day three was the start of all my many problems with the RUMOR! My msn messenger stopped working and my picture messaging never wanted to work my text messaging would come to an hour to 2-3 days late! I felt pretty stupid to replying to messages I got the days before! Since I only had 30 days to try the phone out I decided to go in a week later and change it to white RUMOR! Sadly I had even more problems with the white RUMOR! The people who worked for sprint didnt know what to do with it either! As soon as I got the white one connected to my account it kept turning off and then turning back on like every two mins. continually for couple days! Since I got the phone 45 mins. away from my house it was a hassle driving there to the store all the time! Even though I went there at least 4 times a week trying to get it fixed! Having 2 phones in 3 weeks was a pain since neither of them worked fine! I then decided to end my contract! Also with this phone I got charged too much, my rings tones were almost $56 each, pic messaging I was charged $30, internet was $30, text was also $30, so basically what im trying to say was i was being charged ridiculous prices for things that never worked on my phone!!!
Ever since the RUMOR came out i always asked if by any chance a green one would come out! Amazingly there is (I’ve seen a picture of it), and I can’t wait to get it! Even though it was supposed to come out today(Feb. 17) the date has been switched to March 17th! Hopefully, they have improved the phone so it doesnt have that many problems!
I have the blue Lg Rumor..it just came out..i have no problems with this phone….
alot of my friends have this phone, and they say that it has problems..but this one has no problems so far..
the only thing that I dont like is that the Internet is slow…but what can i expect..

but yeah..you really should just get the Blue LG Rumor..or just wait until the end of this month, to get the new Samsung Rant..that is coming out..it is the complete opposite of the Rumor…
it has a full keyboard..and it also included Ev-Do in it so the internet is fast lol….

yeah, ive got the black and blue rumor and its screens been doing some wierd stuff, mianly when i open and close the keypad. Sometimes half of it or all of it goes dead. Other times the colors go into negative, and other times the screen inverses so everything is backwards.
yes tho they say they have changed it and it works better! we’ll see about that if not then i might as well sue sprint for high bills!!! cause they have horrible “customer service” !!!! =(
Yeah, that happens to me too. When I open then close my keyboard to fast, my whole phone will shut off, or it’ll be sitting around and i’ll pick it up and it’s dead. it’s quite aggrivating.
Mine does the same thing. I have the same rumor as you, the black and blue, and I’ve never dropped it or let it get wet. It normally happens when I open the keypad, like you said. Mine has been white screened for about a day and a half now. I’m worried about having to pay for a replacement because the screen got scratched while it was in my pocket. The phone was fine when I put it in my pocket, when I got home from school, the screen had scratches all over it.
im gettin the white one on thursday n im madd excited it cuz mi friend has the black one n its so hott but i sware to god if i get it n mi shit breaks i will be PISSED!
just letting you know the white one weighs less than the black one! and preferably get a ear piece for it cause its pretty heavy if you talk on it a lot! good luck on the phone!

whenever i make a call i can hear a really high pitched ringing. is anyone else experiencing this?
this phone sux!!! ive had two of them so far and they have both done the same thing. the screen has gone out on them all u can see is all white or a bunch of different colors and its twisted and all distorted! but these phones suck! the screen is, as my friend says, pixilating all over the place!

Hey im about to get this phone im hearing good things and bad things about it should i get it or not?
Well as for right now I don’t see anything good about this phone at all. I mean it just sucks..I’m a bit disappointed on the internet access because I couldn’t even watch videos on it. Not on youtube, veoh, or any other websites and for some bullshit reason there’s an error message that says “you need to get a handler for this type of content” wtf is that suppose to mean?!? I’m really pissed off, but as far as everything else goes I guess it’s alright…the key buttons or whatever you prefer to call it by works and the display screen is perfectly fine…Do anyone else experience the same problem? Anyway I guess I’ll just have to call the customer service or something to see if there’s a way to fix it.
i’v read every comment on this page and by the looks of it if my rumor does any of thats stuff its astalavista baby!!! the sprint lady told me that the newer rumors were fixed and had less problems..so far my phones is with her word. i’v had it for TWO weeks and everyone else said about the same thing….idk…we’ll see!!!

Yeah, I have heard a lot of bad things about the rumor too, but I have also heard about all the new updates and fixes they have done on the phone…. Me, im getting the green since it for sure should have the fixes on it, and is newer… so they had to of updgraded it. My friend has the green one and so far no problems.
Anyway, I also read that if you use the texting keyboard too much, that the paint chips off! Tell me, is that true? Anybody text a lot on the keyboard and the paint come off?

does anyone know how to delete the history of your texts sent? Every time I go to send a message it comes up with the last people I sent a text to. How many days does it hold them and how can I get rid of them. I don’t want people to know who I’ve just texted.

The rumour screen is very delicate and expensive to replace. Simply keeping it in a back pocket, or in a purse, against any curved object, can break them! I’m on my second Rumour. My first one got screwed up from being in my purse. The screen went completely white with a few black patches on it. Interestingly, I used the phone then put it in my purse, where it sat overnight. The next morning I went to use it, it was busted. The damage apparently occurred spontaneously inside the purse overnight. I must have purse goblins.
I was told it was damage due to being bent or dropped. I can imagine it would have been worse had it been in my pocket.
I bought the phone through TBooth, but the warranty would not cover the damage. They flat out refused to send it in for repair, even though I offered to pay for it. I took it to Bell, who is my service provider, where I was told a replacement screen would cost $300 (I got the phone on sale for $50 with a new contract). So, I ended up having to buy a new one from Bell at full price for $300 so I wouldn’t have to wait for repairs. I now keep it in a case, worn on my belt. If it spontaneously breaks again I’ll kick all kinds of trouble.
Just a follow-up, although I was TOLD a replacement screen alone would cost $300 (not including labour and shipping) I discovered from a website that screens are in fact only $100. http://www.cellulardr.com/SVLM0024004.htm
Should you need a replacement part for your phone, and your warranty will not cover it, don’t deal with your service provider if you think they are ripping you off. Look up the part and order it, then find a phone repair place. You’ll save yourself a few bucks.
My dad’s Rumor just stopped ringing today. If you have key beeps on that works however there is no volume for the incoming calls. Vibrate stopped working and started working during this time. It won’t even let me demo a tone in the ring tone menu where you can hear each tone as you move along the list. Even though the volume says it’s at 5,4,3,2,1 it never rings.
It is 2 days old, sucks. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
yes i send at least a hundred txts a day and sadly the keypad and menu button has been wearing down; the paints chipping off but i mean i think thats bound to happen if u txt that much..

I called LG when half of my son’s screen went blank. They KNOW it is a problem and will fix it for free. I ended up taking mine to the Sprint store and they ordered me a new one and waived the replacement fee. They also know it is a problem. Originally, I took it to Radio Shack, where I had bought it. They wanted $91 to fix it and knew nothing of issues with the phone!!! We are done with LG phones. Even the sales folks will tell you that!
My son had his Rumor’s since x-mas. the screen went blank and would not work.
Sprint told him that it was a L G problem, not Sprints responsibility.
He sent in in still under warrenty (what ever that is worth).
They kept it 3 weeeks then sent him a letter telling him he spilt something on the phone. The phone does not even have a scratch or wear mark on it.
They want $75.00 to fix it.
He called and they reafirmed the $75.00 charge. He said he has never spilt anything on the phone and would like to talk to a supervisor.
He told the supervisor the same thing. The supervisor then said he must have dropped the phone. He said no. Then the supervisor said he must have sat on it.
All lies just to collect $75.00 dollars for a phone that is junk with no customer service to back it up.

So I can’t even download a screen saver, let alone anything else It says I need a handler, don’t know what that is? or how to get one? can’t send picture mail, call history says I have had no missed, incoming or outgoing calls. At first I thought it was me I had trouble putting my mp3s on but now thats fine, is there something I can do to fix this or do I need to send it back I have only had it since the middle of march
Sounds like your phone isn’t recognized on the network. Take it to your phone service provider, or call them, and ask them to reinitialize it, and tell them NOT to charge YOU for it since it wasn’t done properly in the first place. If that doesn’t work, then it’s possible your phone isn’t outputting the required info for recognition, in which case, you should take it in and demand a replacement.
I wouldn’t recommend getting this phone. I’m on my 3rd, going on 4th soon, one since I got it for Christmas. The first one randomly called the last person who texted me (no one believed me that it did this until it was sitting on the table, nothing touched it, and suddenly started calling my friend). The second one my friend had in his pocket, took it out to give to me, and the screen turned white as soon as he handed it to me, and only worked when the keyboard was slid open. If it was closed, it would randomly shut itself off. The third one that I’m on now started malfunctioning last night. I took it out of my pocket to use and the screen was pixelated and had lines all over it so I couldn’t see the screen, and randomly flashes a white screen. It does this both when the keyboard is slid open and when its closed. At first it randomly did id and would go back to the normal screen, but now it’s always like that, and I can’t see anything so I can’t read and texts or call anyone from my contact list. Unfortunately for me the Sprint dealership I bought it from is closed on weekends, so I’m out of a phone until Monday at least.
Anyone else have any of these problems?
My son’s phone showed the pixelating issue you described. We bought our phone at Radio Shack and they wanted $91 to “fix it”. I called LG and they said it is a known issue and will replace it for free. However, we took ours to a Corporate Sprint store and they replaced it for free…waived the replacement fee. I let them know that I had called LG and found issues with the phone on Google. I would recommend finding a corp. store and not a locally owned franchise. I called Sprint and they gave me the location I needed. Good Luck!! This is our last LG phone.
i have the lime green one for about a month now and it has been working great for me

You’re fortunate that you have not had any problems with your phone. However, I seriously doubt the rest of us are imagining the problems we have had, or the costs we have had to endure for repair or replacement. Keep your TRUTH, the reality is that this model is not without its problems.
Ive had my rumor for 3 months now from the begining sometimes when I was on the web it would just shut off and come back on, now when it comes back on it stuck on the start up screen. I called lg and they told me I have to send it in but when they recieve it they erase all your info before they work on it. How can I recover all my contacts if I dont have a sd card in it? They told me if I could get past the start up screen I could update the firm ware but it wont go past start up. Is there any code to reboot the phone to bypass start up? Help I cant lose all my numbers!
Bluetooth all your contacts to a computer or to a friend’s phone temporarily. Then when you have recovered the phone, bluetooth them back onto your phone.
But if I understand you correctly, you cannot get to your contacts. The contacts are not kept on an SD card, but in the phone’s memory. Some phone service providers can plug your phone into their system and download your data, then you can recover it. They charge for this service though, I believe it’s around $30.

I just got my Rumor about a month ago,
and it was working fine up until last Saturday I believe.
It went dead that night, so I charged it overnight. The next morning I wake up
and all of my buttons (besides the keyboard) don’t work. I couldn’t access my menu, the numbers didn’t work, I couldn’t text, I couldn’t even answer my phone calls. I had to use the keyboard on the phone to navigate my way around. So hopefully when I take it into Sprint today they can fix it. Cause. I’m going crazy not being able to do anything.

I am trying to get free ringtones on my Rumor by LG at phonezoo.com I can get the tone, but when I try to “view” or “listen” to it it tells m eI need a handler? Anyone know what to do? Or where can I go to download a handler?

I just got my LG rumor yesterday and it works great, except the texting is a little odd. I kept typing and trying to send - it would send successfully but then it would have the message in the outbox, it’d say [page] on it, i dont know what the deal with that is though. and sometimes i try to type on the actual key board but it wont do it, but i restarted the phone and now its fine.
