The folks on the Zune team are no doubt hard at work on the third-gen Zune and here are some renderings and specs of what it could/should be. The likelihood that we’ll finally see the Zune phone is more than apparent with popularity of the iPhone, announcement of Android and the downfall of WinMo. If MS doesn’t pull this out soon, they’ll be dead in the water. Not as a company, though. Just in terms of PMP and maybe their mobile OS.

The Zune 3 will feature 16GB and 32GB flash models, IE, Wi-Fi marketplace and a full blown touchscreen. In other words, it’s the iPod Touch and iPhone from MS. It’s an obvious assumption and I just hope MS doesn’t go and feck this up.

[UPDATE]: Yes, we know it’s not real, quit emailing us, and develop a sense for oblique satire.

  • 2008. Year of the iZunePhoneThing renderings.

    • Hey Windows Mobile is far from Dead in the water. it is probably the OS used on more smart phones that any other. And if you ever used it it is much better than the blackberry OS for that matter.

  • I dont think MS will be “Dead in the water” if they do not release this device. I am not big into the whole phone/media player thing. In fact I have only seen about 3 iPhones in the wild. the benefit to this over the iPhone is that it will work in corporate Outlook environments. ant say though whether MS is eager to give up on MinMO, esp. in light of the new update coming here soon.

  • Do mobile operating systems ever really die? I mean, we still have the shit bucket Palm OS that has basically only added color since version 1.0. It, like WinMo, has hundreds of applications and that is what keeps it going. If the zunephoneamajig doesn’t have some iteration of WinMo under the hood it will wicked fail.

  • when does it come out?

  • o,year,i think ms very good.

  • I HATE apple I hate everything that they put out. It all sucks, I hope and pray that they come out with this. I am SICK of this crap they call and iphone. I had to switch back to my LG vue because the iphone lags like hell broke loose! I hope that they will let you remove the battery for a hard reboot, unlike the iphone. I trust Microsoft a lot more then apple.

  • Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble but unfortunately, MS won’t be making something up-to-par to the iPhone . Because they don’t want to take it to that level . the guy who’s President said in an interview that da whole ‘zPhone’ idea will highly not happen . However, expect a Zune touch around the corner . That’s what the Zune 3 should be . i cnt wait for a Zune touchscreen . ; its just what Zune needs in order to be revolutionary . i Don’t like ipods personally . i heard the screen is extremely sensitive, Nano’s break easily if they slip out your hands, (It happened to my cousin before) and iPod products are way overpriced for something so fragile and with little capacity . the iTouch is hot and all, but NO CAPACITY whatsoever . ! and if you want to surf da web through that, you best stay in your house lmaOo, cuz there’s no chance of you getting WiFi if you’re on the 6 train goin to the 40-deuce . ; no point if you’re on the go . The way i see it, the iTouch is simply something to show off . But in the end of the day, i would rather have a Zune holdin more than 8,000 songs and a huge screen . If Zune comes out with a touchscreen model with a screen as massive as the concept picture, they’re definitely gonna catch up with Apple . The next Zune will definitely have my money’s worth . :):)

  • ok
i dont really want them to come out with a phone even though it would be cool. first they should make a zune that is cooler then the Ipod Touch. then a phone would be great if it is cheaper then the iphone. because 99.00 a month is really expensive and most people cant afford it. I hate apple but i have an ipod tocuh and it is cool
i really like MC better then Apple so i would buy a zune “touch” if they would make one
