I met a lady on an airplane, who has friends that work for . They all have an MacBook Touch and says it will have a 9 by 10 inch touch screen. Along with a real keyboard that comes out of the actual MacBook Touch.

"most major pc/gadget/appliance manufacturers follow Apple’s lead in terms of product design these days"

Apple is one of the best in terms of product design, but you take the award for cluelessness with the that comment. You've insulted and discredited alot of people with a statement that amounts to saying that every Apple design is 100% original and they've never copied anything from anyone and most(!) manufacturers copy them. This is the idiocy that most of us gets unfairly pinned with because of people like you. Ugh.. I'm sorry, I'm just sick of reading this crap

Could be real. The shadows are correct (not a PS error, even if it IS a PS'd photo) for the light source. The keyboard/case/lack of iSight are indeed from the PBook G4 range, but that's not unbelievable as this is most likely (if real) an earlier prototype. If Apple had been working on this wider touchpad for a sub notebook for some time then it stands to reason they'd have implemented it in whichever was their current range when this photo was taken, not in some machine-of-the-future which they hadn't yet put into production. It makes more sense to use the existing tooling/case design for the prototypes until all of the hardware/software bugs have been ironed out and then build it into the current revision models when it's ready for rollout.

Just because there's only this one photo doesn't mean to say it doesn't exist. How many people knew about OS X for Intel machines being developed up to 5 years before Apple announced the switch to Intel processors!?

Multi-touch would be extremely useful for gestural control systems, working with images/video etc etc.

Also... for the obvious trollbait calling him/herself "Me" : 'Why do every single products they released look like shit then?' The obvious answer would be that most gadges/electronic appliances in production today look equally shit in your eyes. After all, most major pc/gadget/appliance manufacturers follow Apple's lead in terms of product design these days. Anyone remember everything from kettles to steam irons going translucent blue? How about when all PC laptops were grey (because Apple's were), then when Apple switched to black they all followed suit, then the same with aluminium, also with white... so your proposition is self-defeating.

I don't know if it's legit, but I'm typing this on a 12" Dell and my hands are flying over the touchpad, barely resting on the edge of the case. I may have longer fingers than my wife (by a lot), but I believe most people would not touch the pad while typing.

Neverthelss, the only reason to make it that big would be a DS-esque touch display, which would be really cool. It existed on some laptops I was considering a couple years back (tosh?)

We can see the closing hook on the top of the screen, exactly at the same position than the powerbook G4 12 inches...

Calling BS on JohnyD. The only reason you are having this problem is because of a 3rd party app being used to make the right-edge of the trackpad control scrolling.

Actually, that's not the case at all. I own a brand new macbook and when I type my wrists sometimes slide against the right-hand edge of the trackpad which I have configured to act as a vertical scroll. The effect is my document starts scrolling while I'm typing... so you are most definitly wrong.
