Using Mininova as a reference point, TorrentFreak compiled a list of the top BitTorrent downloaded movies and TV shows. With some 2.4 million downloads, NBC’s “Heroes” was the most downloaded TV show in 2007, followed by “Top Gear” and “Battlestar Galactica.” On the movie side, you’ve got “Transformers” followed by “Knocked Up” and “Shooter.” Apparently my favorite movie, “Once,” is nowhere near as popular as I’d like it to be.

Don’t forget that since the Oscars are right around the corner, DVD screeners are popping up all the time. I recently saw “No Country For Old Men” thanks to BitTorrent (since I don’t go to theaters). I’ll probably have to see it again as I was hacking my PSP (again) and didn’t pay too much attention to the plot.

  • What is everyone’s fixation on Transformers? That movie was a piece of shit.

    • Jameson, do you care about entertainment? Come on, nobody is saying Transformers was supposed to be Schindler’s List or anything. The movie was based off a cartoon which was in turn based off an action figure. If you expected high quality screen-play and story telling that is your fault you were disappointed. Transformers was an awesomely entertaining movie. Between the fantastic special effects, to the ridiculously awesome opening scene, to the awesomely campy dialog this movie was perfect for what it was supposed to be, entertaining.

Once was a fantastic movie, and it got nowhere near the attention it deserved.

      • I agree with what you said about Once, but Transformers sucked. The special effects would have been a lot better if you actually could have seen what was going on in the last ten minutes. It was basically a bunch of blurs. And it isn’t too much to ask to have anything above a somewhat coherent screenplay.

So yes, I care about entertainment. I just have standards, that’s all.

  • In all fairness, people were only downloading Transformers so that they could burn it to a DVD, and then add it to the enormous Transformers Bon Fire right outside of Hollywood. They would buy new DVD’s, but most of them have already been burned. Hence the downloading on BitTorrent.
