Hackers detonate fake nuke on live news; Czech Republic is so not amused

Hackers are an annoyance usually, but sometimes they pull a funny or tricky prank, and then I must stand up and politely applaud. Sadly, they sometimes get caught. Such is the case of six ill-fated hacker types from the Czech Republic, who managed to sneak this fake nuclear blast into a news channel’s weather webcam. That is awesome.
It’s a harmless prank, to be sure, but the group is looking at up to three years in jail each for “spreading false information”. We’re hoping the court realizes this is just a fun and clever way to make art, and not a crime by any stretch.

I’m imposing community service upon myself for appreciating this. Awesome work.

Harmless? I hope the court deviates from the sentencing guidelines and triples their sentence.

What about companies like McDonalds who actually say they sell food and Coke who say their sugar flavoured battery acid is refreshing. Send them to jail for spreading false information.
What about fictional novels. Dammm, False information everywhere.

What ever happened to checking the facts for reporting. Granted this was on video and could even possibly be streaming live. Isn’t that what retractions are for? So as to not lynch the reporter or source. Certainly the people who it would matter to most, locals, know the true story, so what’s the harm. Bravo entertainists!

Well, while entertaining it could also be dangerous, causing a public panic.
