It’s not a docking station, really. It’s an external monitor and hub that happens to fit a super-small sub-Macbook computer, just like the one we’ve been hearing about that should hit during Macworld in a week and a half. Giz dug up the specs on the US Patent Office website, and it looks pretty amazing, and it looks pretty real.
But it’s not totally from out of left field. We’d heard rumors that Apple was going to resurrect the Duo/Dock architecture that Jobs was always a fan of, and this is definitely in that vein, we look forward to telling you more about it at Macworld, where we’ll be liveblogging in a new, amazing way.
Apple Docking Patent Works Perfectly with Ultra-Slim MacBook [The Giz]

My first Mac is going to be the Ultra-portable assuming it is revealed at Macworld, and I have already accepted that I would be buying another one for the office to work on. This Duo-dock concept is exactly what I want (and saves buying a 2nd Mac), 1 computer – networked docking station with backup utilities (Time Machine) and wired Ethernet and peripherals..
I hope this is happening. Port replicators are a huge hole in Apple’s lineup – and with a solution like this the migration path for Windows users is all the easier.
I think you mean “vein”
Yes, you’re correct. I’d used the word “vain” in a previous post about our Bloggies nomination, and it was stuck in my fingers. Thanks.
“vain” is probably more appropriate, but hey, it probably is useful technology, and so should likely be “vein”
Seams like a waste of a monitor if you ask me, as you cannot use the large monitor and the laptops monitor at the same time. Though I am biased, I love multiple monitors, conbined with the mobility of a laptop
