FlyTunes brings Internet radio to your iPhone
by Nicholas Deleon on January 7, 2008

FlyTunes sounds good. It’s a new service for cellphone and other Wi-Fi devices that tunes into Internet radio stations, turning your staid iPhone into a wherever-you-go-radio. In that sense it’s sorta like satellite radio, though I’d be wary of calling it a “satellite radio killer.” In any event, the company insists that caching 30 minutes of audio takes only one minute.

Shots of the interface, ahoy.

FlyTunes will be free, so you’ll have to put up with AdSense-like ads in order to use it.

Version 1.0 of the software will be released on January 21 and will work with the iPhone and iPod touch. I’m sure one of us here will try it out when the big day comes.

  • When streaming and 3G come to the iPhone I don’t see much of a point to this. Today, my Treo with Kinoma player already streams internet radio.
